Team Canada plays Finland at 1:00 today and USA plays Denmark at 5:00. Clague should be getting a huge role for Canada this year. Moverare was the last player cut last year for Sweden, but now will probably find himself next to potential first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin.

Daniel Kurovsky is listed at 6'4", 214 lbs, has a little bit of Frolov in him. He's also gone undrafted over the past two years, so I believe he would be considered a free agent prospect.

Really strange and inexplicable play, frankly, especially given how good he was in the same atmosphere last year.

It's the aberration, so hoping he bounces back.

CBA rules are a little goofy with draft eligibility. Europeans (or specifically "European trained") players get an extra year of draft eligibility. North American born/trained '98 birthdays will still be eligible for the 2018 Draft. European born/trained '98s will be eligible through 2019.

Each year there might be a couple of Euros who get drafted in their 4th year. Viktor Arvidsson is probably the best success story in recent memory.

In that case, I could see a team taking a mid-late round gamble on Kurovsky, given his combo of size and skill and room for development.

Tough break, could explain his poor play, though his ankle wouldn't prohibit him from passing to the correct teammate...

Can't say I agree 100%. My decision making when in pain is not the same when pain free. Overall body execution when in pain (even making a pass) can affect balance.

Not trying to excuse his poor play, because I am one of those who feels he is far from "superstar." But players have bad games. Those are normal. An injured player having a bad game is even less consequential.

Clague looked bad all game before the blocked shot. Terrible turnovers and trying to do to much (Muzzin like).

Anderson for USA played well but wasn't noticeable good or bad.

Moverare played very well. He was very calm and collected. High IQ player. If his development continues going well...he'll be a Top4 Defensive Dman easily. Would be an awesome partner for Doughty.

I didn't see Sweden but that's good to hear because that was basically his whole scouting report. IIRC our staff had a consensus that he was literally the smartest hockey IQ player in the draft.

seems like the plan is to have clague play half the game

10 minutes in that first period, i've barely seen him off the ice in the 2nd

Can't really blame Clague for the US goal (not sure if it was 2nd or 3rd). Stick was knocked out of his hands mid-collision.

Anderson has been steady, if unspectacular

Moverare not looking great so far in the tourney, at least not in my eyes. Slow skater, only average in one-on-one battles, a couple of bad giveaways. I don´t think I´ve seen any of his shots from the blueline do anything but hit the closest skater. He looks bigger than I expected though and it´s not all bad, he´s still mostly holding his own but I was hoping he´d stand out in a more positive manner.

Watching Rasmus Dahlin is a delight through. He reminds me a lot of Doughty, especially in the way he can skate the puck up the ice, elude forecheckers and make it all look effortless.

Stuck at work and cannot watch the Canada game. Looking at the box score Clague has taken two penalties with no points in the third. Stat lines can be deceiving but I was hoping to see some offense from him.

He logged the most time on ice for Canada and the second most of either team, so he’s doing something right. I didn’t catch the game though.
