I didn't get to watch the US Swede game yesterday only got to read the thread and all I head was the US were diving and you k ow what I believed it. Now watching this game and seeing people complain about diving on blatant penalties not sure I believe that anymore.

Oh I wouldn’t doubt that it had an impact. But still I’m looking at comparable players and see that he was selected too high. Look at the players selected after him. I mean he seems to have the making of an energy 3rd of 4th liner. Furthermore look at players playing on second and 3rd lines on there respective teams and they still out score him by a ways. Some even undrafted.

A lot more than boxscore stats go into draft selection, and again 11 games. I'm not saying he's going to be a star or anything, because I don't think he will and most 12th overall picks never are, but he has great physical tools that can be refined into a pretty good player. You just can't look at stats for players in junior and use that as your sole judgement of how players are or will develop. If it were that simple drafting would be easy. Unfortunately that approach is extremely common on this site.
