They actually claim victory to that war? It was clearly our victory. We burnt down the ****in' white house.

They won the battle of New Orleans when the peace deal was already signed but news never got to the armies. Catchy little sone about American victory.

There is no MVP...

But Team Canada so far...

No MVP until we beat the Swedes... and it will still be a Team Canada win... no MVP...

Definitely one of the most balanced teams I have seen. All four lines have been solid, and overall the defense has been good. Good goaltending...total team this year.

*pats self on back for being the first person to push for Batherson on the team in the roster making thread*

What a beauty, cannot wait till tomorrow.

Cal Foote from Colorado, why you guys need American boys on the team?
Jack Hughes learned the game of hockey and got to where he is now in the top development league in the world, in Canada, which receives extensive funding from Hockey Canada. Bellows is one of many Americans, including your best player of all time in Hull, who is the son of a Canadian NHL player. The only reason places like St. Louis is churning out quality talent is the commitment of retired players - most of whom are Canadian - to that area. Shall we continue?

And... sadly you are right...

Another obstacle in Canada is just affording to play...

True...
Whereas in the Southern States the NHL and it’s almost all-American BoG subsidizes the shit out of hockey because they know everyone would play baseball, football, basketball, or soccer otherwise...

Canada was still a colony of Great Britain. It was Great Britain against the USA, really, not that the settlers did not play a huge part.
Aah, history, like this game will be soon.

I'm sorry we clearly just don't see eye to eye on this matter. Canada winning 2015 WJ Gold and now on the verge of going to the WJC Gold Medal game for 2 straight years (2017, 2018) doesn't come across as flatlining to me...at all.
We’ve medaled twice in the past 5 years at this tournament. Before that we had a 14 tournament streak of medals, including 5 golds in a row. Before we didn’t medal in 1998, we had another streak of 5 golds. That’s a medal in 19 of 20 tournaments including 10 gold medals.
Want to know the last time we only medaled in 2 of 5 tournaments? 1977-1981. The first 5 official world junior tournaments. Playing against the Soviet Union.
World champions? We’ve won the last two but hadn’t placed top 3 in the past 5 and hadn’t won in 7 years before that. Though one can argue that isn’t best on best.
Olympics we have done very well winning 3 of the past 4 but the only reason we didn’t use to do well there’s is because our best players never used to go.
So there is 0 question that we are still #1. We are the best country in the world in hockey. By a lot. But let’s not pretend like that gap hasn’t been closing recently. Because it most certainly has been.

The game must be suspenseful when we even find the time to talk about history! :) Although there is a Czech PP now, maybe Zadina can put another one in..
