Olympics: 2018 Winter Olympics Qualifying

Of course it's going to be televised. There's usually someone streaming from Latvia, but don't expect HD quality unless you can find a Latvian proxy somewhere and watch the official LTV stream.
 
Ouch, 1-2 OTL for Slovenia to Italy. Still, Slovenia is a team that shows up bigger than Belarus. They'll be ready.
 
Hoping for Germany (Leon "Dr. Drai" Draisaitl), Denmark (Canada loves the Flying Danes), and Latvia (pound for pound might be among the best hockey fans in the world).

The Olympics need some Latvia. Met a few Latvian fans in my travels, some of the funniest and most enjoyable hockey fans I've ever met. The Latvians bring an element to international hockey that I love, get it done boys. And man can those guys drink beer :cheers:.


Edit: just looked, it appears only one of Germany or Latvia can advance. Too bad.
 
Kazakhstan's roster besides Barys NA players looks like poop.

Our Federation is a mess, there is no way that doesnt impact players performance on ice. Not to mention Vasiļjevs is not the most "PC" coach you could find, he has already offended a few players in the past and doesnt look like he has changed.

sog after 60mins: 34:9. slovenia played without tičar & jeglič, who will join in minsk, both players are in good shape (tičar is khl leading scorer with 4 goals, jeglič 1+2).

after the game coach zupančič announced the roster for minsk:

the biggest question among the fans is how to play kopitar and murÅ¡ak, together or in separate lines. i suspect we'll see a lot of mixing in top-9 in the first game against poland. on goal i expect kroÅ¡elj, top D pairs should be kovačevič - repe and Å¡tebih - kranjc.

Lipmans sucks, but if players hold grudges about unpaid bonuses, then everybody should take a hard look at themselves. Rumors around this team are awful.

Counterargument to that is - Lipmans shouldnt have promised those bonuses in the first place, then players wouldnt have a grudge to hold.
 
We have some random line combinations out there. I'm not sure if the coaches are simply trying out new things or if it's being done on purpose to confuse our opponents or something, but we're not looking very good so far. :)

Also Daugavins, Karsums, Bartulis, Sotnieks, Merzlikins are all missing from the line-up for today's game.

Winning the OQ? Forget it, with this kind of play we arent going anywhere. And you know what? With a federation like that we dont deserve Olympics.

Ok ok enough with the doomsday doomsday. Every country hates their federation, it's a part of life. Your country doesn't even have the stupidest federation head in your group. Not saying you'll win but you'll be just fine.

Denmark came out and executed ok. Obviously many of the players have never played together and it showed, very elementary chemistry, missed opportunities, but I liked what I saw. They did what they were supposed to, not a very intense game but just taking care of business really. A few practice sessions between today and the tournament to get more chemistry work going and work out the details should be fine.

Such a shame with a federation like that. You fired the trainer yesterday they said on Danish tv. Why does the president of the federation act like that?
 
Look kabidjan i respect your opinion but thats just aint true. If Ozolinsh or Irbe was at the top of LHF thibgs would be so, so different, things would actuallt get done. Latvian fans have suffered mediocrity for far too long, somethings got to give.

Because he doesnt want to pay promised bonuses to neither the players or coaches or even provide basic things like equipment. The dude has never played hockey or any other sport for that matter, hes a businessman and a senile one at that(hes 75), he has been doing this shady stuff ever since he has been the president and hes been the president for 20 years.
