It's next to impossible he drops that low.
Lets put it this way. Yakupov was a better scorer in his draft year than Zadina is. Yakupov is a better player now when he was in his draft year. Yakupov is too bad to play in the NHL. Being "elite striker" in junior isn't anything. It's not that Czechs didn't want to adjust, it's that Zadina was in over his head and there is just no need or point to rush him.
P.S. Vrana with a great game last night and will undoubtedly stay in top 6 with Wilson suspended.
I agree that being an big goal scorer in junior doesn't tranlsate to anything. The way Zadina scores is what makes him elite and he has scored at every possible level so far.. led the Hlinka team, led the U20 team, led the Mooseheads. That is where 'elite' comes from. Lots of overage guys score a tonne of goals in the CHL and never make the NHL. This was an 18 year old doing it.
Yakupov is a draft bust. I'm an Oiler's fan and he did not pan out and I was surprised he was this bad. He might not even be in the NHL next season. As a counter, I'll offer Patrick Laine playing for Finland at the World's as an 18 year old before coming to the NHL... 7 goals and 5 assists.
Vrana scored a beauty goal and I"m happy for him but he played 7 minutes last night... scroll down to last 5 games.. he is averaging between 5 to 7 minutes a night which is the lowest total of the 13 forwards every night.
Jakub Vrana Stats and News
His pass to Smith Pelly was also beautiful for his assist. I hope you're right about Top 6 as that would put him around 15 to 17 minutes a night which would be triple what he has gotten in a few of his last games.
