It's next to impossible he drops that low.

Lets put it this way. Yakupov was a better scorer in his draft year than Zadina is. Yakupov is a better player now when he was in his draft year. Yakupov is too bad to play in the NHL. Being "elite striker" in junior isn't anything. It's not that Czechs didn't want to adjust, it's that Zadina was in over his head and there is just no need or point to rush him.

P.S. Vrana with a great game last night and will undoubtedly stay in top 6 with Wilson suspended.

I agree that being an big goal scorer in junior doesn't tranlsate to anything. The way Zadina scores is what makes him elite and he has scored at every possible level so far.. led the Hlinka team, led the U20 team, led the Mooseheads. That is where 'elite' comes from. Lots of overage guys score a tonne of goals in the CHL and never make the NHL. This was an 18 year old doing it.

Yakupov is a draft bust. I'm an Oiler's fan and he did not pan out and I was surprised he was this bad. He might not even be in the NHL next season. As a counter, I'll offer Patrick Laine playing for Finland at the World's as an 18 year old before coming to the NHL... 7 goals and 5 assists.

Vrana scored a beauty goal and I"m happy for him but he played 7 minutes last night... scroll down to last 5 games.. he is averaging between 5 to 7 minutes a night which is the lowest total of the 13 forwards every night.

Jakub Vrana Stats and News

His pass to Smith Pelly was also beautiful for his assist. I hope you're right about Top 6 as that would put him around 15 to 17 minutes a night which would be triple what he has gotten in a few of his last games.

Well Laine was Liiga playoff MVP that year. Again, this isn't about the fact he isn't talented or not as talented as another guy, it's that you can't expect a guy to switch from junior to world's best in a few weeks.

Regarding Vrana, I think his usage at this point depends on the score. As Washington has a lead he gets stapled to the bench, he played way more in the 1st yesterday than in later periods. Anyway, with Wilson suspended he will play more. Surely not 15 minutes but more.

Vrana is by far one of the fastest on the team, yesterdays goal was proof enough. Even though he is still working on his overall game, he is able to carry and cycle the puck at incredible speed - a valuable skill in the playoffs (especially when playing against PIT). It is just mind boggling how this guy's ice time ranges between 5-7 minutes a game and this is not even Czech bias talking.

I'm hoping he gets traded if I'm being honest... even better if to the Oilers.

I do wonder how Zadina would've done had he stayed in the Extraliga?

Nobody knows now, I guess. Probably would have scored 20-25 points if he kept playing for Pardubice. But it's tricky to assume those things. Look at Necas, he was a complete dud before WJC and after gaining confidence there came back to Extraliga scoring PPG.

In a sudden plot twist, Wilson isn't suspended so rip Vrana's TOI.

Grand Rapids Griffins is out. Hronek and Šulák free. It will be interesting to watch if they get a chance.

New average age is 24.8, 2nd youngest WHC team in our history. Only 1996 was younger (24,7). Not definitely of course, 3 players will not play from this team, which could change the a. age.

Also another interesting thing, I was looking Tomáš Plekanec will play his 100th NT game at this WHC. Which is very hard for NHL player and it show how much he care about National Team.

1996, the best WHC ever. Only WHC team I remembered majority of roster for more like 10 years. Lemon tree and overcrowded Viena.Reichel, Kucera, we are the champions!

And do you remember WCH 1999 when hockey championship was on f***ing TV Nova. With Tittelbach as head commentator  he even didn't know hockey rules

I remember him becomming completely hysterical about finnish chance despite finn was still somewhere in the corner. Not sure whether it was from 1999. This guy didnt have any sense of hockey whatsoever. But he made some progress and, if I remember clear, also commented 2004 WC where he was solid ( finnally after 5 years:))

That was quick. Filip Hronek and Libor Šulák added to roster.

Wow, I didn't even expect that.
It's clear that even the coaches just know that the current defense is a mess.
Hronek should be a nice option for the PP. I hope he will play.
Simek would be good addition too.

That is a surprise. Hronek could be a good addition. I have to admit that I'm not a big sulak fan though.
Hopefully both will help us. I'm curious how Hronek will do, but it's good some young defensmen get a chance too.
I also must say Jiří Fischer is doing great work. Hronek and Šulák immediately released, by no doubt thanks to Fischer who is working for Detroit. Hyka released while Vegas still playing. He was good choice by Jandač.

Sulak is prone to terrible mistakes, but his offensive skills are probably 2nd best on the team. (Only Hronek I would have higher in this regard, very excited for Filip, hopefully he gets to play)
I prefer Sulak to guys like Musil, Moravcik or Planek.

That’s true... hyka was a real surprise too. Amazing about Plekanec and 100 games. I feel bad because he deserves a gold and couldn’t play in 2010.

Sulak and Musil are the complete opposite ends of the spectrum for D. We need them to become coaches... one day with David and the next with Libor. Build the perfect two way dman.

Who would you say his the best offensive skills if Sulak is second?

Shame we didn't get gold in 2011. We had everything to win there. Pavelec in great form, Židlický, Eliáš, Jágr, Plekanec... We win everything there and lost only game with Sweden in SF.

Hronek, as I said in the previous post "(Only Hronek I would have higher in this regard, very excited for Filip, hopefully he gets to play)"
I think Hronek is currently the most skilled D from the Czech Republic. Which is sad considering he's a 20 years old playing in the AHL.
