agreed as Pivetta seems to have a drop in velocity the 3rd time around. Was a heck of an outing for him though. Going to be very interesting to see if he can build off this one.
Pivetta has a knack for imploding in the middle innings, if he even makes it that far. Getting 5.2 shutout innings out of him is already a massive win. He had 97 pitches, which is a standard amount at any point in the year, so that certainly doesn't seem grounds for frustration. Pivetta is not someone who has earned a ton of trust anyway.
Guy on 1st, 2 outs, going through the 3rd time, Kapler made a lefty on lefty move against Bour, one of their few competent hitters with power. He even maybe learned something and didn't burn Morgan for just that batter and let him go another full inning. Every reliever pitched an inning+, and it was clean and textbook. If he took out Pivetta in the 5th with 84 pitches to pinch hit, everyone would've been angry too. He gave him the 6th with a leash, and Pivetta left with a rare confident outing.
