Any discussion of babysitters? Or does he ignore that entirely?

He touches on it briefly. I had to google it to figure out what he was referring to (I’d never heard that story before). Basically said he dealt with allegations that were extremely harmful to him and his family and that it took a long time to deal with. IMO, it’s implied but not outright stated that this lead to both his trade out of St. Louis, and the end of his first marriage.

Holy **** I just looked that incident up, got to an HFboards thread that mentions it, and without fail there are defenders trying to justify/rationalize it.

In an attempt to deflect this thread from going down "that road" I'll try to change directions by sharing with y'all my favourite band photo ever.

I call it "Larry David Disapproves"

Seriously, he walked by us with his fingers in his ears in protest about 20 times.

This past weekend or couple months actually..

I’ve been going through some rough patches in life, to the point of my mental health being unstable. On Sunday I had a small get together with some family and friends...realizing that no matter how depth of dispare you are, there are loved ones out there willing to help.

I’m still on the upside of getting my mental health restored. Wish me luck guys.

Dont know you personally but youre a top notch poster here (as far as we can see!) so hope the people around you can help you to where ya need to be. I went thru two of those problems before and was without family/close friends would have been a lot tougher

The rules are really too hard to find on the new site.
Terms of Service and Rules | HFBoards - NHL Message Board and Forum for National Hockey League

Took me like 5-10 minutes to find them. I see there is no real rule to talk about moderating anymore, so I guess it's appropriate to talk about why I stepped down. It's come up a few times, and I want to say that it was my choice to step down. I was not removed for breaking any rule or anything. Rather, I was incredibly stressed personally. I needed to drastically reduce the amount of responsibilities I had and really focus on my personal life. I was overwhelmed by being a full-time student and actually having responsibilities. There really isn't much more to it than that, although I really liked moderating, but I felt that I couldn't really be as active in the forum anymore. I was juggling too many responsibilities and at the time, I was not being able to focus on any and the whole thing kind of crumbled down and my mental went with it (mental boom). It has gotten much better now that I'm basically just focusing on one thing.

While we are on the topic of Moderating I guess I'll like to say that we have fantastic moderators in HFVan who take really TOO much shit for everything. I recently saw a poster critique that the moderators were silencing opinions. I can't even express just how wrong that is. I think that a lot of people don't really read the rules and often break them. A big one I remember is that a lot of people, instead of responding to the post they would attack the poster. While half of the post is critique of the post and half of it is just flaming the poster. That's a sure fire bet to get your post deleted. Especially when you've caused a big chain of responses and the whole post chain needs to be deleted because you chose to break the damn rules, and it's too big of a task to ask a moderator to edit the flame out of your post.

Not going to address the second part of your post, but I'm glad your work/life balance has stabilized, @WTG. I know university life can be incredibly overwhelming.

Sorry to hear about you feeling overwhelmed WTG. I figured it was a time management thing, but it seems like you were going though a great deal. Hope all is well with you.

On the second part: Oh boy, where to go with that...? You've seen it from both sides. Few others have, so perspectives will be different. My own perspective on this changed after becoming a MOD.

IMO, HF VAN has never been more open to divergent views. So long as you don't break the rules, everything goes. Everything. Speaking only from personal experience, I haven't found that to be true on any other hockey forum. So much more to say, but I'll stop there.

Glad to hear you’ve found a better balance of life, work, fun and responsibilities for yourself, WTG - it’s amazing how doing that can make you feel so much better mentally in such short order. So good on you, and I’m glad you’re still here posting. :)

If there was such a rule, I would've been banned LONG ago.

Sad to see you step down but you need to put your own personal needs first. It's just a game after all.

:)
