Then he plays in Halifax. I don't see him making the jump to NHL by then.
I think a lot of it depends on what team ends up drafting him. So many teams now rush to get young talent on ELC's into there lineup that it is really hard to predict one way or the other, even though I do agree that he probably should spend another year in junior.

Totally disagree sorry. Chytil is the only one who won't make it likely. He could be playing in NHL now. Necas is a long term project. Too small to be in NHL anytime soon. Zadina will be in AHL at best.
Next year we should have 1st line of Zadina-Necas-Safin.

I don't see Nečas' size as a major problem, as many smaller players have earned their spot in the NHL during previous few years. In my opinion, the era when NHL was almost exclusively a league for big, strong players is past now. Today's top hockey is much more about excellent feet moving abilities.
Zadina is the player I am most looking forward to watch (from the Czech team). This guy has improved so rapidly since the last season with Pardubice. I would be not surprised if he makes it into the NHL immediately after the draft, but yes, it is more probable he will spend a season in the AHL before. Or, as was said, in juniors.

Necas gained a 6-pound last year. In addition, Carolina has no big competition, NHL can play too.

There is every expectation among our fan base that Chytil will be full-time in the NHL next season, maybe even as soon as later this season. He really could be playing there now, but our coach has a stupid rookie initiation process for the majority of rookies.

It depends a lot on how he improves his defensive game. This year with Kometa Brno, he doesn't always look great in the defensive zone and on back check. But I agree his size couldn't be a problem, he is not so totally small and is a fast skater.

Great enthusiasm for the game Chytil in AHL?:)

[/ QUOTE]

I expect him to improve his defensive game, but there's a question whether it will be this season already. With his offensive side of the game, he could be a NHLer the next season, as he is really fast skater and reads the game very well. But defensively, he must work especially on his positioning.

Yeah, he's doing really well. He shouldn't have been sent to the AHL to begin with, but thats a different discussion.
I read he alone want to be sent to AHL, as he felt NHL was too hard for him at that time. But agree next year WJC will be without him, as he seem more and more ready. Only chance if happen something similiar to David Pastrnak in 2016, when Boston release him to play there after injury.

For one, it's a considerable improvement (from last game) against a team that is considered (by a few hockey analysts here in Canada), to be the Gold medal favourites. Finland has by far the best defensive core. Not just this year, but the best I've seen any team have in a while. Don't forget that Finland also had 7 power plays in that game.
In pre-tournament, I'm ok with it yes.

I think with a few adjustments and some luck, Czechs can be competitive. As you saw, they moved Zadina to second line with Necas. Who knows what's next. But you can tell that Pesan is not blind like other coaches.
There's been many years where Top teams play terrible in pre-season and everyone thought they'd suck. Then they came out strong come real tournament. Not saying that's the case with Czechs. But I think we're judging too much on these games. You guys might be right, but it's simply too early. Let's see what happens on the 26th and judge from there.

I understand. We will see on 26th. Would be nice to see our guys finnally do something. Not sure if we evaluate other teams correctly though. I dont know how is Russia this year but the remaining 4 teams are for me in same tier. Our team look quite good on paper for our standarts but when I see for example Sweden with Dahlin and Petterson - those are guys who dominate SEL. Our guys mostly hanging in senior leagues, except maybe Chytil, and even Necas does not have any significant numbers. But we will see. Where do you live in Canada btw.?

Russia does not look so great this year, in my opinion. Sweden is a different beast, that team is a serious gold medal contender.

PS: Even Belarus doesn't have a weak roster, guys adjusted to play senior hockey, as they run their U20 programme, similar to the Slovak one...

The top 4 are clear. Czech and Russia in 2nd tier. Then the rest. We just need a good system and we can play with these teams. Look what Bokros has done with less than mediocre Slovak teams. He would make this team extremely competitive. Or bragin with Russia.
Hopefully Pesan can be that guy for us.

Agree completely. We can compete with Russia, we should beat Switzerland and Belarus, to beat Sweden, we will need an extraordinary effort by all the players, and of course a piece of luck. From the big 4, I see Finland as the team we could most likely compete with, both Canada and USA seem like a completely different level. I am looking forward to the first games, they will tell much more than the pre-tournament ones. I believe Pešán is a talented coach, who can make things happen with this team. But of course, medal contender we are not, at least on paper.

Zachar named the captain, Vala and Reichel with the "A". A bit surprised Necas didn't get any letter, but not that it matters. Hopefully they are good leaders.

Very surprised to see Necas without a letter, I would have pegged him as one of the leaders on this team.

Yeah it doesn't matter that much that's true.

We will see. I might be too strict in this topic but whatever the result will be I hope they put it under strong and overhelming analysis in terms of not only our interim staff but also of our position among other countries and their development. Never been to Ottawa but I spent one nice year in Vancouver area quite a long time ago. Great country to live in, lot of fun as well:D

Haha went to Vancouver for the first time last year. AMAZING city. So beautiful. Just too expensive to live in. Ottawa is the next best option. If you ever make it, let me know and I'll give you a tour!
