Good old Hitchcock. This is what he said about Puljujarvi when he showed up in Edmonton:

“When you see something that good, and that much (of it), as a coach you want to take responsibility for the growth of the player,” Hitchcock said Saturday. “You don’t want to sit there and watch him play in the American Hockey League.”
“I’m not giving names, but I’ve had a lot of success taking players like Jesse and having quick turn-arounds,” Hitchcock said. “I want that responsibility. The top end is awful, awful high. I want to work with that.”

And here is Hitchcock now:
“You don’t try to develop them,” Hitchcock said. “You run them until they run out of gas, (then) you back them off and work with them again.”

What exactly is wrong with Puljujarvi? Is it strictly a piss poor IQ like Yakupov? Whatever it is, Kekalainen knew.

Think so.

I was looking at pre-draft opinions on Puljujarvi...ended up on a CBJ video...and this is the top comment:

My weekly Calgary Flames are a psychopathic team post. Hathaway is a scum piece of trash for going after McDavid the entire game and Connor isn't going to back down there (no star player will). That and Tkachuk doing what he does best and conducting giant douchebag moves like strangling Koskinen at one point in the game. This guy is like a triple threat of just **** qualities; he dives, he's reckless physically, and he gets way with so much little ****. Don't worry though because they turn into PCP gorillas' when you put a solid hit on one of them, biggest double standard hockey team in the game.

Man, what a bad attitude. They should trade him.

To us.

What bonus money is he forfeiting due to that goal? :sarcasm:

Chicago up 3-1 against Caps. Caps goal by former Avs player Orpik.

Patrick Kane is having quite the season. He's got 28 goals and 66 points in 49 games now.

Oilers down 5-1 in the second. They are three points out of a playoff spot behind the Canucks (hail Pettersson), with one game in hand after they presumably lose tonight. So still within easy striking distance of the playoffs. Surely Chiarelli has to make his desperation move soon

There is no team I despise more in hockey than the Flames.

What blows my mind is how teams don't go after Gaudreau on a nightly basis. If I was the coach, especially of the Oilers, I'm telling every single one of my players to cross check/slash/face wash Gaudreau literally whenever they're around him and especially when the goalie stops the puck.

Like, if I was Kassian I would have been following Gaudreau around the ice all game yesterday.

I was about to tell you Johnny hockey isn't easy to hit, but you were careful to point out after the whistle shenanigans lol.

Guys kind of have to have the art of pissing guys off after the whistle down or they just end up in the box and f***ing their team. If it was that easy to f*** with Johnny teams would do it regularly. Crosby went through a stretch where that stuff got to him and had to get over it. Also Calgary has plenty of guys who will step in and not let you anywhere near him. That is how their team is built.

I hate playing Calgary, but woo are they a fun watch. Such a scrapy evil team that pisses everyone off. When that team is in the playoffs they're a must watch IMO.

As a fan of Forsberg, and the early Avs I can't really be a hypocrite and hate on scrappy teams that toe the line. In fact I enjoy it and respect them more for it. Especially since it seems to be dying in this league.

He doesnt use his size for a big guy. Terrible lower body strength. Has a great shot but cant get it off with any sort of regularity. I think he was rushed. Should have been in the AHL the last few seasons.

Strome with 19 points in 26 games for Chicago. Good to see him producing in the NHL. He gets alot of hate but I still think hes a top 6 guy in the future.
He gets hate because of his draft position in that particular draft, not hate as a hockey player.
