Sounds like some Flames fans here on the boards all season long wanting players benched, traded or sent to Hartford.

All I have to say is the trials and tribulations (the few real ones we had) prepared the team for adversity.
 
My guess is that because everything went perfectly for Tampa during regular season, they do not know how to react when something goes wrong. That 9-1 beating by Pens might have been a blessing in disguise for Flames
 
Tampa's fans have had an air of arrogance to them going into the playoffs, as if they were too good for the first round. I hope Columbus puts the boots to them and finishes them off at home

The combination of Tampa under estimating Columbus and the depth Columbus acquired at the trade deadline lead me to calling for a Tampa Bay upset. If Tampa does not win tomorrow this series will be short.
 
You have the general feeling of all the players wanting to win in playoffs. Plus Duchene, Panarin, Dzingl and Bob will get paid more in UFA the better they look
 
Either way, this playoffs is a hell of a ride. People scoff at the notion of "just get in and anything can happen," but it's really true. Tampa is way better than Columbus, but there are no two teams in the NHL for which one playing at their best can't beat another playing at their worst.

I like the continuity in the suspension thresholds.. Last year Kadri had similar hit that was deemed a 3 game suspension. Kucherov's hit was less vicious and thus a lesser suspension. Star power does not appear to be a factor anymore.

Tampa's situation just got uglier. This will either pull the team together and make a cup run or they will crumble.
 
Caps vs. Canes is men against boys right now... it's very cool they sneaked into the playoffs after that long drought but looks like an early exit this year.
 
Well shows what I know, all tied up now after 2. :)
Ferland and Dougie both with dumb offensive zone penalties so far. Ferland also kicked out of the game for making a hip check.

I disagree for me that should have been atleast 2 games. And because it's only a 1 game suspension any subsequent penalties will be compared. For example Hamilton deliberately elbowed a caps player, but it's not as bad as Kucherov's hit so you can't suspend him without showing star bias.
 
Ferly got a little bad luck with this call I think. 5 and a game which automatically calls for a review by player safety.

Ferly has for the most part has always been a fairly clean hitter.

Hamilton has played well this game aside from his penalty and turnover to Ovi I think he's going to blossom away from the limelight.

The Hurricanes played hardball with Dougie this season. For about 3 weeks Dougie was playing third pairing minutes. There was speculation from some hockey insiders that Dougie was on his way out of town and some even surmised he could find it hard to find a new contract when this one was up.

Since that low point Hamilton has turned his give a sh*t meter up and has done everything the team has asked. Today he is playing first pairing minutes again and has been an impact in getting Carolina into the playoffs and has continued his strong play into the playoffs.

Because the universe hates me and my wallet, I'll make a declaration. If the Flames win the cup, and Fantanberg plays in at least 50% of our playoff games, I'll buy a Fantanberg jersey. Because I doubt many people ever get that jersey. But I'll do it. I'll get Fantanberg instead of Tkachuk

Yeah, I mean, the Caps are my second team (next to the Flames) because I'm a huge Ovi fan, but as soon as I saw that hit, I was like "BULL! That was a clean hit."

Also, who saw Orpik with the OT Game Winner (4th career playoff goal, it was his 151st playoff game).
