I would actually try and fish Kadri out of Toronto. He is a skilled player, has a nasty streak, and would be a perfect second line center on a great contract.

The Kings don't even get any real help from expiring contracts. Thompson's contract is just laughable but in the big picture it's only $1.6 freed up for someone on an ELC probably making half of that. Fantenberg is the other one. Sure would be nice to be freed from Pearson (through 2021) or Toffoli (2020) after this season.

No way Toronto takes only Muzzin. Probably want Wagner or Cal Petersen thrown in plus mid-round draft pick for Nylander.

Wagner?

They most likely don't have what it would take to get Nylander

By giving them what?

For Kadri I would start with Muzzin as the center piece. From that point I don’t think we would be too far off even if we had to give up a decent prospect the guy is still young and sign long-term

I think there are a few moves that have to be made .

It’s time for some new aggressive blood that still wants to win a cup. I cannot stand watching with some of our players have become. I think trading players like to fully open Muzzin would send a huge shot across the Stern. Yes we traded Gabruch but at the time we traded him he was already a waste of a roster spot. Buy land in a player like Kadri we could always look into moving Carter.

NEWS FLASH!! The Kings Might Already be in Trouble

31 Takes: The Kings might already be in trouble
From the article:
"...after an offseason of wholesale changes on the managerial side with a new GM and new coach, but still the same cast of characters that had fomented so much pessimism about the future of the franchise. Ah, but then they made the playoffs, which is (apparently) all you need to do to reassure yourself that you’re a good club rather than a mediocre one that’s trending down.

So instead of selling off just about anyone they could, which they should have been the course of action in summer 2017, the Kings imported Ilya Kovalchuk to bolster the offense that ranked 17th in the league last season, and re-signed Drew Doughty for big money and bigger term ($11-million AAV for eight years) even though he’ll be almost 30 when that deal starts."

But, but, these guys won Stanley Cups, so they had to give them the money and 8-year deals.

The Mayor John Hoven‏ @mayorNHL

Appears LA Kings players and mgmt agree - the coach isn't the problem right now. Some players saying there is a lack of commitment from a few in the room. And Rob Blake addressed the team in closed door post-game mtg, where theme was importance of being "emotionally invested."

Ryan Lambert is a noted Kings hater. He's right, but a broken clock is right twice a day and he was probably jacking himself while typing this.

I think Blake would have a hard time getting much for Tanner or Tyler. Best case is a swap of disappointing players with someone else.
Lombardi / Blake had been buying high (contracts given to these players), now Blake will be selling low.

I don’t think it would, they don’t want to tie up their cap for more than 2 years to three guys. It’s gonna have to be Muzzin/Prospect/Picks.

The Leafs don't want Muzzin, he's too old. Remember last year when Skinner's name was out there and another name with it from that team was Faulk? Well Dubas called the Canes but not for Slavin or Faulk, the rumored name was Pesce, who the Canes , wisely enough, won't part with.

Whoever trades for him, is risking giving up (Dumba was another name, McAvoy and Carlo, were out there) a top young d for what may be a short rental.
Nylander can sign wherever he wants, and he knows that.

There's still a shot the Leafs persuade Nylander/agent to agree to a bridge deal. It would make sense for Nylander, as 2 or 3 (yr deal) years from now, the CAP will be higher and his contract would be as well. And would make it better for the Leafs to move, they'd get better assets for a non rental potentially.

The other side is that the Kings would also have to open up cap space for Nylander. Muzzin's $4m isn't enough.

There's no quick fix for the Kings. They're not adding a talent like Nylander for aging or stagnant crap.
