Lafreniere is 2020. Seems most of Hughes best challengers are on his team (Turcotte and Vlasic).Would be cool to see a Lafreniere vs Hughes final as a preview of the 2019 draft.
That's right. Not much of a point, White can't skate with USA. Red is clearly the best roster from Canada.Lafreniere is 2020. Seems most of Hughes best challengers are on his team (Turcotte and Vlasic).
I was going to watch this semi-final after the Leaf game. Not even sure if there is a point now.
This looks like the best USNTDP roster since the 1997s (Matthews, Hanifin, Tkachuk, Werenski, McAvoy, White, Bracco, Roslovic, Tage Thompson, Christian Fischer, Jordan Greenway, Kunin etc.) and may have the talent to be among the best of all time with the 97's. What Hughes has done to start the year is ridiculous. That's right. Not much of a point, White can't skate with USA. Red is clearly the best roster from Canada.
I'm not sure about that. I don't know most of these players in detail. A few players have stood out to me other than Hughes and Caufield. Players like Beecher, Turcotte, York, Helleson, Vlasic look pretty good, but I can't really see anybody who stands out in a special way other Hughes. It's obviously hard because there is only so many minutes to go around on this team, they'll likely have a lot more ice-time in NCAA/Major Junior. Regardless, the '97 group is still on another level than this group IMO, I don't think I see a Hanifin, Werenski, or Tkachuk yet. Some of those guys didn't emerge until later on (Notably Tkachuk but guys like Thompson and Kunin were 3rd liners and not highly regarded until college). Beecher, Turcotte and Vlasic all have top 10 pick upside, so it will be interesting to track their development. It feels like only Hughes will get the bump to the U-18's this year (man I'd love to see a Farabee-Hughes-Wahlstrom line at some point).I'm not sure about that. Canada has 3 teams with no chemistry....US team pratice together all year or almost...
LHJMQ has been weel represented for Canada...cannot wait to see how Parent-Simoneau-Pelleteier-Lafreniere-Ortiz-Ennis devellop
Czech Republic in the group stage - score 4:17 and 0 wins.
Czech Republic in the playoffs - score 8:7 and 2 wins.
I don't know what they did and how they did it, but it worked. First medal since 2006.
Also, Nick Malik is incredible.
Fun (scary) fact: The last medal (also bronze) was won by the 1989 age group, which eventually got relegated at the U18 WJC the following year. Yikes
