What are the chances that Timothy Liljegren will be your 1st D next year?

From what I've heard he may very well be the next big thing in the hockey world among defencemen. :)

It's probably more likely that Jacob Larsson or Oliver Kylington is our #1 D next year. But it's not out of the question that Liljegren will be just that good.

It's just too early to say. We don't exactly lack puck moving D for next year so he will have some good competition. I think he's going to make the team, and if he does make the team then he's going to at least be on the PP.

I wouldn't be shocked if he's our best D by next december.

I usually think people put to little in what happens in WJC, but this year I would say the opposite. Puljujärvi has 12p in 31 games in a league that is not as good as the swedish league, before this tournament he had 6p in 8 games for the finnish U20 team this season. He is a big talent for sure, but he is starting to get very overhype, and I do not often say that about finnish players, usually they are underrated.

It think it will be more underage players then it was this year, the best thing (out of U20 perspective) is that Grönborg will leave

Sure, you can put it like that but if you do, remember that Puljujärvi outscored Matthews who holds his own in a mens league and who will most likely play top 6 mins in the NHL after the summer. I agree that you shouldnt draw to much from the WJCs, but its painfully obvious that Sweden havnt had that type of prospect in a looooong time (Pulju/Laine)

Well yes, and his WJC preformance should raise his stocks of course, he has shown that he can dominated against the best juniors in the world. Even if it is a small sample size that is off course something that you should take into account yes. But still his senior season hasnt been that good to justife this hype, far far from Barkov and Granlund draft years so far. So what do you base it on that we havnt had a player like Puljujärvi in a long time? Even if you ignore all the d-men in the last years. Nylander certainly did dominated at junior level and also at senior level, and right now I wouldnt trade Nylander for Puljujärvi, maybe for Barkov however.

But sure it hanst been that many, but they have been there none the less.

Not really, Puljujärvis skillset is pretty much unheard of in Sweden since...I dunno - a long time. I would pick him ahead of Nylander and whatnot in a heartbeat, hes got so much potential in that big body

So what is your answer to his lack of preformance outside WJC? I am all for putting a lot focus on what they do in WJC, but it has is limits.

Unheard of, first of we have like 4 out of the 5 best d-men in the world and they are all young.

Nylander has dominated at every level he has played in, Puljujärvi has not.

Eh? Sure, I think as prospects they are fairly similar to Patrik Berglund when he was the same age. Berglund, imo, did not reach the potential he had, and neither may Pulju/Laine, but Sweden has had similar players (Berglund), equally talented players (Nylander, Forsberg, Lindholm) and potentially much more successful players (Bäckström) in the last 10 years.

I hope Puljujärvi and Laine succeed, but they are not as remarkably talented as some posters make them out to be here.

I've watched Berglund in his youth and he's not Laine's level, couldn't take over a game like Laine could, closer to Pulju but prob still not the same level.

Was William Fallstrom ever on the radar for this team and now fallen off, or was he more likely to be a 2018 only?

No, not this year. Looking at his stats from this season he'll probably not be on the radar for next years team either.

I would have prefer a more establish coach from the outside, that have prove more.

Roster for the upcoming U19 tournament in Germany should be released soon. Some "lesser known" prospects will likely get the chance.

Oliver Kylington is going to slaughter this tournament next year. If Sweden finally gets over whatever he said and finally puts him on the team

To be fair, every coach is eventually fired.

Yeah, but what have Monten to brag about that give him this job? That year with timrå is pretty much it, otherwize he has just been ass coach and HC for junior teams. He has failed when he has taken over as as HC for a senior club.

Good thing he won't be coaching seniors then.

So why is Berkerud not with u18s then? You would think if anyone Bratt would be with u19s.
