That's an incredible over payment for someone we have to now resign.
Agree,way overpayment....

I wonder what Blake has in mind for the approx. $6 million in cap space we have. He could easily use that money to sign both Jagr and Vanek if they are willing to take 1 year deals.
Does the CAP rollover if we don't use it, ala the NFL?
You can forget about getting Tatar, he re-signed with Detroit for 4-years at $5.3M per year.
The Kings passing on Tatar in favor of Clifford was such a great decision. In one year Tatar scored more goals than Clifford has in his entire career.
How many assists on Stanley Cup winning goals does Tartar have?
Since Darren McCarty scored a goal in a Stanley Cup Final, then I am to assume that he's a better player than Marcel Dionne.

Tatar and Clifford have the same amount of fights with matthew tkachuk, 0
Clifford's value is that he would run through a brick wall for his LA Kings teammates since the second his name was called at the draft.
Whatever happened--or didn't happen--in the game up in Calgary does not negate what he has done during his time here.
He isn't a great player by any means but he's a great teammate and, once upon a time, was good enough to take shifts in double overtime of Game 5 of the SCFs.
Tatar is a better player, obviously; however, a team of Tatar's wouldn't win a Cup without a guy like Clifford on it. Not arguing it was a better pick, just saying that this exercise can be done with almost every player and this is not as egregious as Teubert/Pushkarev/Tambellini/Hickey etc.

Interesting. I thought the goal was to win championships, not just have better players on the team.
With Clifford the Kings won two cups. Who knows what would have unfolded differently if he wasn't on the team. Maybe they never even win one, butterfly effect and all. I'll choose to be happy that he was a part of two championships for the team I love. If you want to focus on the negative and be unhappy about what we don't have now, well... ok.
Aww come on BK if any other Kings tough guy in the history of the organization handled the situation with Tkachunp the way Clifford did, you'd be pissed. His past accomplishments went out the window for me when he responded the way he did.
I think it's funny that people call the Kings "slow".
They have average team speed.
When you're winning you look fast, when you're losing you look slow.
