It's not so much the pick that bothers me but if you look at today's trade, the NYR got spanked.
The team is miles weaker today than it was yesterday.

Today, yes, in the future, probably not. They got younger, faster and more skilled. DeAngelo has incredible upside and with this pick the Rangers probably get a top 6 forward.

The team is not MILES weaker. They are weaker. If the Rangers use that cap space to sign Shattenkirk and Thornton to a short term deal they are better than they were last year.

The Rangers absolutely did not get spanked.

There are some legitimately good players left.
