yea

Kostin and Tarasenko?

did you hear them?? they are comparing kostin to a freight train. he is gona be dynamic with tarashenko :shakehead

sky is the limit with this kid.

we draft smart safe chytil, whose pants are so tight that if he farts his shoes will fly off

Overall, quite happy with this draft. Andersson pick was good, Chytil pick was absolute flames. Shocked we didn't take some random NA player there. When they said Chytil's name I was legitimately taken aback.

I don't think you should be talking about things you don't know about.

Chytil is all hands and speed. He's not a "safe" player at all, IMO he has a LOT of upside.

You really like Chytil?

yeah seems if he booms then he could boom pretty big but it's always a question

This offseason is not looking too great so far. Even if we sign Shattenkirk and re-sign Smith for the D our forwards are pretty thin. Could've had Suzuki, go with Andersson. Could've had Kostin, went with someone off the board. 1st rounders need to be home runs, not safe bets that may be 3rd and 4th liners. I hope GMJG has a plan because this may not even be a playoff team next year.

At 21 he is safe.. I know that kostin was the #1 ranked euro, I know that he is big, strong, and talented. I know that chytils pants are ridiculous....and so on.
I'm not saying the guy is garbage, However, I do not agree wit your and his perspective that he is the Czech Auston Matthews :laugh:

Never said he's the Czech Auston Matthews. More like a faster Buchnevich.

Chytil himself said he's the Czech Auston Matthews

I was also taken aback when I head "Chytil" because apparently it's one syllable? That's badass af.

Like, "you need to Chytil out"

no he did. I hope your right and he booms huge.. But for me this is a mcilrath over tarashenko draft all over again. I hope i'm very wrong and this kid slays it in the next 2 years and looks better than a middle 6 FWD which this team has in spades

Maybe these guys end up being McIlrath but I'm not sure there was a Tarasenko in this draft.

Glass was and he was gone.

Thought you were saying that I said it. Kid's got arrogance. I like it.

Also, it's not even remotely comparable to McIlrath over Tarasenko. Kostin isn't Tarasenko. Andersson over, like, Glass or Petersson would've been bad, but over Mittlestadt or Suzuki? Meh.

your correct. not saying someone will turn superstar, just that we chose to draft a lesser player, while a better 1 went behind us again.
by all accounts chytil will be a NHL player good middle 6 FWD even if he doesn't reach his full potential. that was my analogy, i don't think he will flat out bust

I don't love/hate what the NYR did in the first round. Was hoping for Glass, but he was gone. Would like to see them get into the 2nd/3rd round.

The truer test of what the team building process will be comes July 1. If they want a real rebuild, they should trade Nash, Zucc, Klein (if he doesn't retire), McDonagh, Staal, etc. Don't sign any major free agents (though if they trade some of the listed above, no major UFA will sign w/NYR anyway). At that rate Lundqvist will want out too. They need to be bad win/loss wise the next couple of years to get the young high end skill talent at the top of the draft this roster doesn't have. Not necessarily tank, but let the kids play and learn through their mistakes.

If they don't want a real rebuild, they'll just wind up re-shuffling the deck chairs of a ship that's just spinning around in circles. Keep doing the same things and expecting a different result. Be competitive every year, win a round, but no hope of winning a Cup. In other words, a waste of time.

expect this. hockey is a business first. and when nyr gets in the playoffs, even if they only win 1 round it generates A TON of revenue
