Bro..You been preaching that for how long now and yet no one has been able to get the job done.
Now that he's gone, who do you propose if going to take the spot?
Please don't tell me Shattenkirk or back on the ****list you go

Surprised you don't like Shattenkirk.

Thought you were a big fan of plus/minus.

So ****ing what? That has nothing to do with rolling the dice on a player. Guys are ranked high all the time who are thought of as ultra boom or bust (aka rolling the dice).

Further, he really wasn't thought of as a top 10 guy at all. He was picked in the range he was generally considered. Outlier mock drafts can say anything though.

Yeah I remember being involved in too many mock drafts his year and he was usually 18-25 range

I'm not into patch work and they currently have a skeleton crew..

Stepan - Gone - Who takes his minutes?
Girardi - Gone - Who takes his minutes?
Smith -UFA - If he doesn't sign. Who takes his minutes?
Lindberg - Gone - Who takes his minutes?
Raanta - Gone - Who takes his minutes?

Welcome to pro sports. This exact sort of thing happens every year. Girardi? Really? He was a net negative out there. Part of pro sports is knowingsome positions are going to be weaker than others. RD is right now a weaker position. But we could easily re-sign Smith. Could get a RD FA, just traded for a kid, might have a kid ready from the minors. Or you go a season with one or two guys playing a line higher than normal. Which happens. not the end of the world.

Stepan isn't even capable of taking Stepan's minutes anymore. 2 years from now this move will prove to be a massive net positive for the team and that's the key. You don't just make moves for the upcoming season.

Well that's an exaggeration, there was a huge concern giving that he was playing Avon hockey as his most competitive level of hockey. All people knew was he was big and could skate, it wasn't a lock he'd be a 3rd liner at all

He was known to be the best skater in the draft even then. We all know his physical skills guaranteed him an NHL job, it was always only a matter of where he's top out.
