Oh, it's funnier than that. Benning based the Gudbranson deal on the Reinhart trade.

lol then it's one of these two morons who wanted the other to hold his beer, doesn't matter which one.

or maybe they were drinking together and holding each other's beer?

Hiding under WTG's bed...
5 Points for barzal, I said this earlier this year I dont like boesers chances at the calder, the islanders just score to many goals per game, to many opportunities for barzal to accumulate points when your team puts 5 on the board nightly.

I would love to see him win but this will be a big hill to climb.
Boeser has it tougher in that Barzal plays on a team with Tavares. I haven't look at the stats but I would imagine that opposition teams have their better defensive players against Tavares leaving "easier" competition against Barzal. Boeser doesn't have that luxory. I know it doesn't count for anything but I'm more impressed with what Boeser has accomplished so far in spite of that.

Huh, so Philip Danault took a puck in the head from Zdeno Chara and had to be stretchered off the ice.

That sounds exceedingly unpleasant.

It looked even more unpleasant than it sounded to you. The guy has a bomb and it was a direct hit. Ugly.

I still can't believe the Oilers traded Barzal and a top 2nd round pick for Griffin Reinhart. Utter insanity.

I agree the trade was a poor one for the Oilers, but it isn't as if they ever had the NHL rights to Barzal or Stephens. The Oilers were trading the 16th and 33rd picks in the draft, not the players the Islanders would select with those picks and to characterize it differently makes no more sense than saying that the Penguins traded Barzal and Klinkhammer for David Perron.

Fine, fair enough... that is still a terrible terrible trade. One that should be mocked then reminded that this is the same guy that traded Seguin for Eriksson. The other half that made that trade, made a slightly better, so just terrible trade in McCaan and 33rd for Gudy.

Not sure how valid it is but I saw an Oilers fan on the main board say Edmonton would have taken Joel Eriksson-Ek with that 1st.

Arizona spectacular in finding a way to lose tonight. Leading by a goal with a handful of seconds left, and San Jose's net empty, and they end up losing. Worse than that, Coyotes players Dvorak and Demers were responsible for kicking the two goals into their own net. That team takes tanking seriously.

Watching the Flames/Hurricanes game. Do you think Sportsnet could send Cassie Campbell to a professional vocal coach to improve her sound? She is a competent hockey analyst, but her gun metal tone deaf voice drives me up the wall. It's too bad, because I like the pbp guy Rick Ball.

Looks like Gulutzan’s stick throw really ignited the Flames.

Meanwhile Green just says we play good after getting blown out.

She’s terrible all around, not just her voice.

That Cogliano suspension is such BS. Guy plays 830 straight games, don't think he's ever even been fined before and somehow gets two games as a first time offender. What a f***ing shame.

281 career PIM too. Questionable hit, but hardly egregious. I don't know, if you want to give him a punishment for that, slap him with a fine. This league sometimes, man. He was pretty emotional about the suspension.

Yeah he is hardly a dirty player - probably one of the cleanest in the game right now. Kempe ended up finish the game too, so it's not even like the hit caused an injury. I don't blame Cogliano for getting emotional because that is 11 seasons of playing hurt and battling injuries...almost for nothing, considering the way it ended. Players take great honour in achievements like that, so him getting emotional was hard to watch.

Such a joke. I'd love to see this set a precedent but you know a 5 time repeat offender could do the same thing and end up with a fine. It doesn't matter who is handing out suspensions because they all f***ing suck at their job.

Bush league move by the DPS. Given some of the hits that should have been suspensions that were not even reviewed, this one just sucks.

She's a very likable personality though. I'd give her some time.
I took part in a hockey camp with Bobby Orr and Cassie Campbell, and they were both excellent with us kids and the parents as well. Put the time in to work with kids individually, talk to them and even talk with the parents.

I'm not a fan of her as a broadcaster though. She's improved, but still isn't great. Not the worst either, though.

The NHL (who I by no means make a habit of defending) was really in a lose-lose situation here.

Had there been no suspension another group of fans would be grabbing their pitch forks and screaming about favouritism and the two tier discipline system in the NHL.

Just finished watching the Islanders - Habs game.. might as well cut n paste my Barzal comment from the last page.

Him being from BC and playing in East has made it easy to cheer for him...
Human highlight reel.
Favorite player to follow from the East now.

Hes getting better rookie Horvat style - week to week.... so much more confident now than he was month ago. You can see it.
A faster Johnny Hockey.

Looks like the NHL career of Paul Martin may be coming to an end. San Jose waived him and he's only played 3 games this season. Does any NHL team really want to add him to their roster?

AHL San Jose his next stop if not claimed. He's already been there for 4 games this season. 14th season all NHL before now. 36 yrs old. Maybe time to pull his own plug. Finishing your career in the AHL after all these years of never being in the minors is not the proud way to go out.

I don't think his wife would be too thrilled with him forfeiting $4.4M this year and $4.25M next year because he's too proud to play in the AHL
