Yeah I was gonna suggest guys like Matthews/Larkin and Scheifele ( actually I suggested him earlier ) would be good candidates to play with McD...so pretty much agree
I'm not sure, but I think that Team NA will have a much harder time trying to 80s Edmonton their way to a victory as Czechia managed to hold Russia's incredible offense full of superstars in check.

Yeah, that is who I would have with him, he works best with that type of player flanking him.
He needs a bounce back game here today against a determined national team. He was real good first game and had a pedestrian second game.
Time for him to step up today.

He was fine last game. He was buzzing and creating chances, needs to shoot the puck more!
I'm not worried about him, he'll show up when it matters.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they broke those two up. They had no points but Scheifele had 2 posts. Scheifele can do net front presence, power forward stuff, getting the puck to McDavid and Scheifele also is likely the best goal-scorer on the entire team with a great one timer snap shot. They are an obvious pairing to me.

You know what? I am still not convinced he will be a better player then Gaudreau yet, I have taken a lot of heat for it and maybe rightly so but I think Gaudreaus I.Q is just as high and his game may be better suited to avoiding injury and such. Sure, he has 4 years development on McD but still...................
Not sure he will be better then matthews yet either, score more sure but better? I don't know yet.

Oh Johnny is great kid is amazing.
McDavid is on another tier, no one in the NHL can skate like he can and control the puck with his IQ. McDavid could already easily have 4-5 assists through two games. Two posts for Scheifele and I think it was Saad or Miller he set up with a nasty dish. Couple prime set ups to Eichel last game. He'll be fine.
I respect your opinion, but McDavid is on another level and you know it

Good attempted comeback, but Czech got some dirty goals, which are good goals to get when you're being consistently out-shot.
I think the scoring lines need a little re-arrangement, but I think they're fine for the most part. I liked what I saw from Saad-Courtier. McLellan can probably swap Miller/Trocheck just fine if he wants on that line. Both should work well alongside those two.
I feel like the PP/PK needs to be refreshed.

This game was a good thing in the grand scheme. The Czechs are a good team and play a strong team system, lots to learn here.
Team NA might be fast and skilled, but they can't run and gun their way through this tournament. They need to play as a team and committed to working together. Especially against the Finns who play disciplined team hockey.
Time for some film and classroom hours.

Gaudreau has looked good no matter who he is out there with. IMO Gaudreau is better quarterbacking the offense.

I think they're really trying hard to find a good combination for McDavid's line and Eichel's line. I hope they have a good idea after the three exhibition games but the lines were still being sorted out late this game.
