Tourney going on, no thread, time to start one.

Finland I see lost 2-1 to the States, good on them, goaltender played lights out!

Anyone else tuning into the tournament?

Love the increasing speed of the women's game, there's more young talents from Russia, Sweden and Finland as well so the game is definitely coming along slowly.

Impressed with the Finnish goalie. She's small but was there making every save needed. Biggest upset so far has been the Czech's over the Swiss. Swiss were my favourite to win Bronze but the loss to the Czech's along with the Fins has put that in jeopardy. Loved the crowd at the US-Canada game, packed with limited standing room available.

Hoping to see the top line for Canada start producing and clicking more. If there is one player to watch on Team Canada it's defenseman Halli Krzyzaniak. Only 21 years old and playing in a top pairing role for a team filled with vets. She was the one that got a penalty for out muscling Knight and made some great plays on those PK's....along with hitting a crossbar.

Looking forward to watching the Team Russia games.

Russia up 1 on Canada!!!

Things will even out but impressed with the speed of some of the Russian skaters, it's finally great to see them invest in the Women's game. This is a program that will improve substantially every year.

Terrific to see close games between opponents facing Canada and the States.

Special talent, even this game, you can see her patience, her desire to make things happen, she's going to be a stud for the long term.

Though up front I'm hoping there's more young talent coming up in the pipelines, these girls will take us through 2018 but comparing to the States our squad's so much older.

We have a few more veterans on the older side then the States up front. I believe there are two reasons for that: 1) The pure depth of Canada on forward 2) The CWHL is doing it's job to keep the women playing, extending the careers of players. No need to pull from the NCAA like the American's do right now.

I know it seems like Poulin has been around for awhile but she's only 24yo. She has so much hockey left to play. Knight is even older then her. Not to mention Natalie Spooner is breaking out as well. Wouldn't hurt to have some other young stars come up though I agree. Who I would keep an ear out for is Sarah Nurse (Darnell's sister).

QF Games:

Sweden vs. Russia
Winner plays USA

Czech's vs. Finland
Winner plays Canada

Relegation Round:
Switzerland vs. Japan
Japan is more then likely on their way back down.

Countries other than the United States and Canada still have tons of room to grow. Judging by how Finland has played, the distance between Finland and the Czech Republic looked even slightly bigger than the distance between Finland and Canada.

The Fins right now are on their own island. If they had Noora Raty then I think they'd be a little bit closer to the top tier. Bronze medal will be a good match up between Finland-Russia as a barometer to see if Russia is in the same tier as the Fins.

Finland have a pretty good team.

Did anyone watch the interview from one of the Swedish players? She says " We need to get the puck at the net because she's not good". I lol'd. Sweden lost to Russia. I lol'd even more.

Could have been even better had Susanna Tapani not chosen to play the ringette finals in Finland over this tournament... :shakehead Good for her that her team lost.

And no Noora Raty either who was cut from the Finnish team. The current Finnish goalie is decent but I'm noticing the flaws in her game that Raty didn't have.

Crazy Bronze Medal game. It was a goaltenders battle for sure as both teams had some great chances. Raisanen and Morozova were absolutely outstanding in the OT as well. The Russian shooters in the shootout though...that was some nice skill.

For the next Women's WC they should just have the US and Canada play like a best of 7 for gold.

Have the other teams plays for bronze.

If it was US/Finland in the semis I think there would have been an upset. Give the Fins another year of development and I personally believe that we'll see more consistent results against the NA teams.
