I liked Komarov with M&M. Leksa doesn't need the puck to do his thing (like Aho does), and he can clear space for his linemates. MiG can keep on looking to set up Koivu. There's still no sniper in that line, but I'm not sure if they need one. They'll find other ways to bury the puck.

This is probably a typo, but it's hilariously fitting. Jalonen has, indeed, done his darnest to force Koskinen into starter mode by playing him in every occasion. I think KJ knows it too that Koskinen looks shaky, but he obviously believes that he can shake that shakiness by playing as much as he can. So he has, quite literally, designed a starter for himself. (Or at least tried to.)

God, I shouldn't post anything that late  But yeah, it's pretty appropriate. I think Saros should start the Canada game. If we lose (the most likely outcome), Koskinen still has his self confidence and can start in the QF. If by some miracle Saros happened to help us win, then obviously the net should be his for the rest of the tournament. Not that I actually think KJ's going to start Saros in the Canada game.

Am I right in that the situation is forming to be such that the Group B 1st will be determined by the CAN-FIN game, and the winner will go against Switzerland/Norway in the quarters while the loser will face Sweden/Russia?

Yes, assuming both Canada and Finland win the rest of their games before the last game. My guess is that the loser of that game faces Sweden, which would be the preferable option (compared to Russia).

The only little chance to win the group is playing with saros.
Koskinen have mistakes in all of his 3 starts.
Saros performance was nearly perfect.

For what it's worth (I doubt it makes anyone feel better at this point), but according to last week's UrheiluSanomat, we came pretty close to having Rask. He says he was healthy and willing to come, but the Bruins GM and head coach didn't like the idea. His fiancée's pregnant but the baby's not due until early July, so that's not the reason he didn't join the team.

Well, if this is true, I suppose the good news is that Rask is no Kipper.

San Jose and Donskoi advanced. Now if Rantanen doesn't play in next game it's getting weird...

Since when GM/coach has anything to say about summer tournaments? About the 1st time hear about this type of case in the worlds.

Um... the guys representing the team that pays the players millions of dollars per year for their primary profession and kind of would like them to not get injured on a nothing-to-them tourney?

You weren't listening very good during and after Sochi Olympics and the build-up to 2014 Worlds when and after Barkov got injured then.

I believe team will be without Rantanen this Year.

I believe and hope that Salomaki is coming from Preds and Lajunen will play in next game. That would give us amazing 4th line. Sallinen has played great but Lajunen could be better choice agains Canada or Russia

Pihlstrom - Lajunen - Salomaki

If we get Salomaki where would Rantanen fit? Replacing Pulkkinen in 3rd with Koskiranta and Aho, that would leave our power play with only one right handed shooting forward.

Laine-Barkov-Aho
Jokinen-Koivu-Rantanen
Pulkkinen-Granlund-Komarov
Pihlström-Koskiranta-x

Maybe split some pairs, Jok and Koivu have experience together and currently Jok brings Barky line down. Granlund is great on center in large ice. No need to have a clear cut #1 line. 3 scoring lines and one energy line.

I would love to see Jokinen away from Barkov & Laine, but I believe that won't happen.

I agree Granlund should be center, Jokinen - Koivu - Komarov would be amazing line against opponents top line.

Laine - Barkov - Aho
Jokinen - Koivu - Komarov
Rantanen - Granlund - Pulkkinen
Pyorala - Koskiranta - Pihlstrom

So if Granlund goes to middle there would be spot for Rantanen ( Salomaki would replace Pyorala )

They should also take away Jokinen from 1st power play and replace him with Granlund or Aho as playmaker. Lindell should be replaced by Pokka on 2nd power play

Off topic but why are you pissing on Kipper? If its about the Olympics, Niittymaki was pretty good and if i remember correctly Calgary somewhat suggested him not to go, or the are you talking about the times when he didn't come to WHC, when he had played about 75 regular season games, and maybe couple of playoffs games to top it off?

Mikko Rantanen and Jani Lajunen are officially in, so they are not expecting Salomäki.

Just stating the fact. It's no secret that Kipper had zero interest towards the World Championships after he managed to establish himself in the NHL.

And for what it's worth, I was actually fine with it.

It's good news for us that Rask is still showing interest towards this tournament, maybe we'll yet see him minding our net sometime in the future. But at the same time I wouldn't think less of him if he wasn't. So less thinking in hyperboles and jumping into conclusions, please.

In other news, KJ has now registered both Rantanen and Lajunen. Both are expected to play tomorrow.

If Pokka and Lindell is on the team, why not Honka?
I suppose they thought they'll have enough puckmovers as it is. Honka would essentially have been more of the same since we already got not just Pokka, but Hietanen too. All smallish, offensive d-men who shoot from the right.

Or then Dallas simply didn't wish to let him go. Which would admittedly be a little weird, since they let Lindell go, and he's considered to be the better of those two. Maybe Lehtinen did not wish to push his luck.

Oh well, whatever the reason, Team Finland has no more passes left. So now the team is what it is.

So apparently zero changes except Lajunen will take Sallinen's place as 4th center. Also Koskinen starting vs France. Source is some IL journalist following the practise atm.

Pyörälä-Koskiranta-Komarov
Granlund-Koivu-Aho
Jokinen-Barkov-Laine
Pihlström-Lajunen-Pulkkinen

I'm not even going to start...

Seriously? Komarov was probably the best player on the ice after he moved to the line with Koivu and MG. Aho played a lot better with Koskiranta and Pyörälä too.

I dont even... Its like KJ doesnt read these forums at all! Or Jatkoaika.com! Heres all answers Nokka, dont you dare to lose gold for us.

With little luck, Lajunen will have a better effect on Pulkkinen than Sallinen did.

Okay, with a lot of luck.

Otherwise, well... Jalonen, you goddamn stubborn boogie.
