Glad our team takes what they think is the best player rather than just automatically going need. Young dmen are great currency if they are any good. Plus, none of those great young D we have are all that established. No guarantee they continue to progress as we all hope.

It says a lot about my faith in Francis that I'm merely skeptical, not angry.

That's pretty much it. It's an odd pick for what we (the fans) know, but obviously Francis would know more than us.

Dealing one of Pesce/Slavin/Fleury/Murphy for a forward would cause this pick to make a lot more sense.

I'm still a bit perplexed by it, but when you have two firsts, you can go with BPA with the first pick. Just so happens that this time it was another LHD.

" In the middle of Hurricane Sandy, with water in the streets and cars on fire,McAvoy pulled out his surf board and paddled to his brothers house."

...........

I can't believe these meatheads think this is commendable.....

I mean he scored 24 goals on D and is almost a 2017 draft eligible. That's pretty good, no?

Hmm, that age makes me wonder- Aho went as low as he did because he was really young for his draft year, and was playing this season at the stage of growth older guys play in during their draft years. Maybe that's an element of Francis' strategy? Guys young for their draft year, but who put up very nice numbers regardless, anticipating further growth?

Looks like stage fright or social anxiety, he was holding on to the podium for dear life.

Honestly thought he was about to pass out. Weird.

Can't be angry with the Bean pick cause I know literally nothing about the dude. Just a bit curious that they went with a d-man instead of a forward. BPA though.

This could help us balance out the contracts to our young D. Hanifin, Pesce, and Slavin are all set to be RFAs at the same time, trading one for a forward helps space that out.

Whoever they picked here isn't playing in the NHL for 2 years or more. Who knows what happens between now and then? If you're drafting for need in the 1st round in the NHL you're doing it wrong.

Somebody will fall to #21 that everyone would be fine with at #13.

Bean still plays to the core competency of drafting and developing D. I trust their choice in him over Chychrun, McAvoy, and Fabbro.
