Seriously though, if you can sign or explore his options and make Krejci the trade bait for a #1-2 defensman you instantly make it easier to get that second defenseman in a trade for other assets. I'd assume a signed Krejci is a lot more appealing to St.Louis.

I see four problems:

1 - Offer not near enough to get Shattenkirk

2 - Salary cap likely stays the same or goes down

3 - $2M for Connolly is way too much

4 - They will sign Loui to make up the mistake (not trading him at the deadline)

1 - Agree - Can increase on that

2 - :(

3 - Yup. Unnecessarily about 500k-725k too high. Not like anyones gonna be outbidding you for his services.

4 - Holding out hope for this. GM gets an F from this deadline otherwise.

1 - Yeah, I meant to add another 1st and remove one of the prospects. I'll edit.

2 - That all depends on the players using the escalator or not. The official stance is still a 74 million cap. The Canadian dollar hasn't changed THAT much since that number came out. I hedged and went a little lower than that. Team as constituted could happen with the cap not going up.

3 - Sure. Was using Hayes contract as a comparable. He will be getting a raise, though.

4 - I disagree strongly. Some one will give him 5 years. It won't be Boston.

I know there is a very small chance of this happening but I agree it makes a lot of sense. I would love to see Spooner and Stamkos teamed up together. I think Spooners point totals would explode setting up a pure sniper like Stamkos.

Would anyone be against signing Okposo with the money that Eriksson is possibly going to get?

Shattenkirk in for what I would assume would be a package of 1sts, C. Miller, Koko, Griffith. Something along those lines.
Move Seids for picks to recover from this past trade deadline.
Also add Yandle and Matt Martin. Run a line up like

Belesky- Krejci- Pastrnak/Oksposo
Marchand- Bergeron- Okposo/Pastrnak
Vatrano- Spooner- Hayes or Connolly
Martin- Acciari- Ferraro
Extras: Kelly (roughly 1 to 1.5 mil for 2 years), Randell

Chara- Shattenkirk
Yandle- (One of the young kids, most likely Carlo or O'Gara)
Krug- McQuaid
Extras: Morrow/Trotman

Rask
Subban/Smith/McIntyre

Ahti Oksanen. One of my favorite college free agents.

You sure he won't want to switch back to D when he leaves BU and gets away from Quinn? Im not sure he thinks of himself as a forward yet even though hes done very well since moving up front.:laugh::laugh:

PC has 3 senior UFAs that could work here. Brandon Tanev will probably get too much attention for us to sign him for cheap but we had him in development camp so maybe. I actually like his teammate Nick Saracino a little more well rounded tough good skater good defensively someone will get a steal and a guy ready to step in right away if they sign him.

And finally my favorite player Trevor Mingoia would be an excellent addition to the Providence Bruins. Would be an offensive wing version of the Acciari signing. Most probably think hes a little undersized for the NHL but the guy is very skilled and is a lock to produce in the AHL he would lead the P B's in scoring immediately and be some nice offensive insurance to have in the system.

Couldn't think of a better place to post this... Here's Pierre LeBrun on 'real awakening' of 'market value' for UFAs this summer:
“I don’t know. If I was a player on an expiring contract and I’m a pretty good player and I like where I am, I like where I live, I like the team I’m on – I might look at the offer I’m getting and stay put. That’d be my advice.â€

At least knowing what he wants and IF he is interested is all we can ask for from Sweeney. Suddenly Krejci becomes the top piece in a top pairing defenseman hunt.

One can dream.
