Drinking game:

If any of the following guys that we could have had instead of trading for Reinhart gets a point, take a drink:

Barzal, Chabot, White, Eriksson Ek, Roslovic, Larsson, Stephens (with the 2nd rounder)

If this guy gets a win, finish your drink and if he gets a shutout, take a shot:

Samsonov

We could have had Barzal... ****! :(

but we would not have taken him

down the center

McDavid
Nuge
Leon D

If we kept the pick--we would have drafted one of
Thomas Chabot
Kyle Connor
Brock Boeser

I do not think Chia Pet would have grabbed a 4th top C with that depth

but this board will convince itself that He would have been our pick

It doesn't matter Barzal is much more valuable than G Reinhart is... its called asset management.

Regardless, he Still holds more value than Reinhart who is not even an NHL player at this point.

Cmon Strome. You gotta bury that if you want to live up to my tremendous expectations.

So if I keep chirping him....

He got it off a Barzal assist, so I can't be to happy haha.

It could be worse.

You could be sitting there with Raddysh on the top unit as he sits in front of the net, never touching the puck, being the only guy on the ice who doesn't grab a point.

Matheson (and I think other folks close to the Oilers) suggested they would have taken Eriksson-Ek if they had kept that pick. Too many C's is a good problem.

Well, between Barzal and Rykov, I had a good end to the day. Hopefully my goaltender actually gets a start tomorrow but after the Czechs beat the Finns today, I'm be surprised if they changed things up. :(

Matheson (and I think other folks close to the Oilers) suggested they would have taken Eriksson-Ek if they had kept that pick. Too many C's is a good problem.
I remember hearing the name Svechnikov a lot close to draft day. He had a good junior career but hasn't looked like a world beater so far in the AHL (although he still has a ton of time to develop).

It's painful to see Barzal play so well but I just don't think there was any way the Oilers were even considering him at 15. Watching him play, Barzal really reminds me a lot of how Nugent-Hopkins used to play - he sees the ice so well and his edgework along the boards is incredible.

My guy around draft day was Kyle Connor - I was absolutely shocked he fell to our pick (and then a spot further). I was optimistic when we acquired Reinhart but I had a really good feeling Connor was going to develop into a strong offensive player.

Wish Oiler fans stop beating themselves up on failed trades like Reinhart. What is past is past. i

I just beat the leftovers last year after suffering a couple of injuries early last year. The left overs are not a team to scoff at.

I agree. Crazy each year to see some of that offense not selected so I enjoy another competitive team in the mix.

I was pondering mainly on Kase and From on my offense, another cut or an injury and I would have for sure selected one.
