Another good shot of McElhinney, looks like he added pad-skins to his gear to cover up the red.

His mask was all taped up too. They showed a closeup during the broadcast and you could see the previous design bleeding through a little.

I always find it interesting to see how goalies change their gear mid season

Not sure which brand, but possibly a company that doesn't pay the fees to be advertised in the NHL.

This could be a pretty solid design without the million mini-logos everywhere.

After some googling some say it's a Combat 45 cal.
A brand not approved by league that's why it's all black.

To be fair (and as a goalie) that type of skate can only exist because of the way the pads sit.

This is incorrect. It is a Sher-Wood. They did not pay for NHL branding on sticks this year. Allen and Anderson are two off the top of my head who have used a similarly designed stick for at least portions of this season.

He's worn them a few times in the last few weeks. They were the winning pad from his "design a pad" contest held over the summer. Supposed to a tribute to Brodeurs old Heatons.
