that is very dismissive.

Not to say I think Nylander, can or can't, but to say something that bluntly and dismissive is an injustice. It's not like people thought that Towes would be Towes all the way back then either. And there are a lot of people who feel that Rielly could be that person, with his quiet no nonsense demeanour (and we've seen glimpses of it, especially when Dion was hurt).

Perhaps Rielly might be a potential future leader.

I agree with everything Mess is saying about Toews - he's my favorite NHL player too, and I don't know if Marner / Nylander have the intangibles or sheer will that he has. He's a special human being, not just a special hockey player.

Nylander comes across as a kid with a special amount of confidence and self possession. Marner seems more of a normal teenager with elite hockey skills. Seems to get nervous.

Hawks are tired, Leafs are looking to rebound after the CBJ, SJ losses. Leafs might win this.

Gustafsson missed the game last night and will probably miss the game tonight as well, which means the Hawks 3rd pairing will be Scuderi-Rozsival which is scary in and of itself but on back to back games it could be a difference maker Babcock could use to the Leaf's advantage tonight. We're talking slow and slower I could see a few hooking/holding penalties as the geriatric duo try to hold on as Leaf forwards blow past them.

Ice Chips: Byfuglien to play Friday vs Wild

Toronto Maple Leafs

James Reimer looks for his first win since Nov. 20 as the Leafs try to put an end to the Blackhawks nine-game win streak. Toronto is in danger of losing four in a row for the first time since October. Reimer is 0-4-1 since late November, missing 12 games due to a groin injury in that span. - TSN

Big focus for Mike Babcock tonight will be his team's start. Babcock wasn't happy with the Leafs first period against Columbus. He felt they lacked energy early in a 3-1 loss. Chicago, for that matter, has the most first period goals (40) in the league this season. Babcock noted the Blackhawks getting up quick on the Canadiens last night. "If we come out and watch 'em instead of playing it can get ugly fast," Babcock said. - TSN

Projected lines vs. Blackhawks:

Forwards
Grabner - Kadri - Komarov
Matthias - Bozak - Parenteau
Winnik - Holland - Lupul
Leivo - Froese - Boyes

Defence
Gardiner - Phaneuf
Hunwick - Rielly
Marincin - Polak

Goaltender
Reimer

Out: Robidas (knee), Spaling (upper-body), van Riemsdyk (foot)
Projected Scratches: Corrado, Clune

Ok, they've gotten the west coast legs out of the way.

We've beaten them here, in the last 2 meetings.
This game will state, if the Leafs have lost their mojo, or they can get back to the system.

Hoping the boys can rise to the occasion...play like they did against the Stars...twice.

Say Reimer lets in 2 or less this game, and the Leafs put up 30+ shots...they have a good chance of pulling this out.

We're coming into this game off an unexpected loss to the worst team in the league. Now we're facing the hottest team in the league. It would be such a Leaf thing to do to win this game.

How so? He hasn't touched NHL ice. I'm not sure how they could take it any slower with him.

He's 19 and been examined by 1 million proctologists.

If he was in college, or Sweden we wouldn't hear of every shot he takes that misses the net.

Not touching an NHL ice at 19 is probably what 90% of players go through and you say "how they could take it any slower with him" proves my point.

You are saying they are taking it slowly and he isn't even 20.

I would hate to play this game out on NHL 16

Hawks wouldn't have a chance on 16. :)
Either way, we got this.
Time for the old Babcock mind trick. Hitch vs. Babs. Babs.
Now it's Babs vs. Q. It's personal.

Btw what the hell is going on with robidas? I legitmately forgot about him

Shanny and co. told him his career's over during training camp.

They let him play the preseason, even 25(ish) mins in his last game as a farewell sort of thing. Lou puts him on LTIR to free up capspace even though evidently hes not injured (played fine last preseason game and then somehow has a long term injury)
