I think - Jonas Røndbjerg(1999') will make a great run for a spot in the final squad.

Some of the key players will be:

Thomas Lillie - Växjö J20
Matias Lassen - Leksands
Christian Mieritz - Hamilton Bulldogs
Søren Nielsen - Esbjerg
Kristian Jensen - Luleå J20
Alexander True - Seattle Thunderbirds

But i think the depth is very good this year, but we lack top end talents - if Ehlers is unavailable.

A possible squad could be:

Goalie:
Thomas Lillie - Växjö J20
Lasse Petersen - Calgary Hitmen

Backs:
Mathias Røndbjerg - Rungsted
Nicolai Weichel - Rungsted
Anders Krogsgaard - Esbjerg
Jeppe Vinther - Esbjerg
Morten Jensen - Rögle J20
Matias Lassen - Leksands
Christian Mieritz - Hamilton Bulldogs

Forwards:
Niklas Andersen - Spokane Chiefs
Martin Eskildsen - SønderjyskE
Nikolaj Krag Christensen - Rødovre
Mathias From - Rögle J20
Jeppe Holmberg - Esbjerg
Søren Nielsen - Esbjerg
Kristian Jensen - Luleå J20
Jeppe Jul Korsgaard - Aalborg
Sebastian Brinkmann - Aalborg
Thomas Olsen - Malmö J20
Jonas Røndbjerg - Rungsted
Alexander True - Seattle Thunderbirds
Nikolaj Ehlers - Winnipeg Jets

But the depth is good in this years squad - so Olaf Eller must make some difficult decisions.

Bjorkstrand isn't eligible, and Ehlers almost certainly won't play... how badly is this team going to get annihilated this year?

probably not as badly as Belarus, wasn't their promotion team almost entirely 19 last year?

Denmark is in the tougher group though so they might get beaten worse but I think they'll be better, that will likely be the relegation battle though.

Belarus has four possible returnees...

exactly, 19 of the 23 players that won them promotion are no longer eligible(19 of 23 qualifies as "almost entirely" does it not? What I said wasn't wrong), and how many of those 4 played a big role in promoting them? I don't know but it's not like Ehlers and Bjorkstrand being the main reason Denmark promoted and then still being eligible.

It's a common theme with teams coming up, which is unfortunate, good generations for those teams down their waste those generations on promoting and then they're gone when they do come up. Unless they're elite level guys like Ehlers and Bjorkstrand carrying their team to promotion at 17/18 and still being around to play in the top pool.

It would be nice if the division 1 tournament in December promoted a team for that year, not sure how feasible that is, they could relegate say 2 teams this year, whoever wins this December comes up for the 2017 tournament, and then the December 2016 D1A tournament gets up for 2017 as well. (they wouldn't do it now of course but that would be the way they'd have to do to set it up I'd imagine if they ever wanted that in the future)

I'm just going off what I heard from a couple posters here last year when Belarus won, that they're not going to be that good this year because the team that promoted them was carried by 19 year olds.

I'd be surprised if Winnipeg let Ehlers go, but it would make the group all that much more awesome if they did

First Denmark plays Switzerland. Then Canada and then Sweden.( then USA ) That's brutal.

Danes better play Swiss-Misses ( who they beat last year ) like it was their Gold Medal Match...Cause, try as they might, vs CAN/SWE/USA...they're gonna get CLOBBERED!

Don't see Ehlers being there but his last game for the Jets was under 12 minutes. If it continues to drop it will be a possibility although the fact the tourney is in Finland means there must be some notice so he can prepare for the time change.

Danes have a massive round robin game to start which will then determine when their next big game is. A QF game or a relegation game.

Kristian Kodal has been pulled out of the squad because of injury.

Which means 10 backs will fight for 7 spots in the upcoming camp in Huddinge.

Ehlers will be staying with the Jets. He is playing a regular shift and getting PP time. Having a good rookie year.

Danish lineup

Any ideas for line combinations? I assume True will be 1C?

I would imagine that a possible Danish lineup could look like this:

1. line: Jonas Røndbjerg, Alexander True, Niklas Andersen
2. line: Mathias From, Nikolaj Krag, Markus Jensen
3. line: Thomas Olsen, Søren Nielsen, Kristian Jensen
4. line: Emil Oliver Christensen, Jeppe Holmberg, Jeppe Jul Korsgaard
Extra: William Boysen

Morten Jensen, Matias Lassen
Anders Krogsgaard, Christian Mieritz
Oliver Gatz, Nicolai Weichel
Lasse Bo Knudsen

Thomas Lillie
Lasse Munk Petersen
Mathias Seldrup
