Another smart decision by Vancouver. Both Horvat and Mccann will go 20 years without winning anything and the one chance they had to play in a tournament people care about they aren't sent for meaningless games in the nhl. Good job growing your player's potential. And great to see where that organization is going also.

Yeah just like that Seguin guy he would be much better today if he was loaned to a junior tournament, when his team decided he was too good for it. His potential would be much higher playing against players who would hardly be a challenge for him. Over being in a pro league against significantly better players. Also Horvat had already won the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award, two J. Ross Robertson Cups, and an Ivan Hlinka gold medal. Sending a player who's proved he can play in the NHL and not look out of place is stupid on so many levels.

McCann is just too valuable to the Canucks right now. People should be putting Virtanen in their lineups as he'll be going there.

I didnt know there was an appeal

Did anyone go watch the practice today?

I wanted to know the chances of jakob making the team?

Thanks

I was at practice today. Not sure on the chances, but I'd rather have him on the team than Dermott. Dermott didn't impress me.

Gauthier should make the team too. He'll be this year's version of Crouse.

Thank you

Im interested about all the hype regarding jakob

2nd /3rd overall draft position

Was he physical? How was his skating compared to the rest?

Can you rate the defence men?

Thanks

Looked like he was skating fine. The practice I watched, they focused a lot on powerplay and penalty killing. He was on a PK unit with McKeown and seemed to hold his ground.

Oh noooo. :(

I was hoping that they will use these, just like last year.

These are gorgeous... Absolutely love them.

Yes they are! And it always annoys me whenever our teams wear Hockey Canada's corporate logo.

but I'm sure the beautiful jerseys will be back whenever Hockey Canada decides it needs the money....

Hockey Canada needs a reason to pull them out again, and 102 years of Hockey in Canada is a good enough excuse for them.

Assuming Virtanen gets loaned (looking more and more likely now):

Projected Lines:

Dal Colle - Point - Virtanen
Crouse - Strome - Marner
Beauvillier - Barzal - Konecny
Perlini - Stephens - Watson
Gauthier

Sanheim - Hicketts
Fleury - Juulsen
Dermott - McKeown
Chrychrun

*I have Chychrun in since Dunn has recently left camp due to injury*

Let me know what you guys think about the line combos.

Don't like Dal Colle or Perlini being there. Beauvillier-Barzal-Konecny is very talented, but all three are primarily playmakers. I would move Gauthier into Konecny's spot, sinze he would bring size and goal scoring.

What are the chances Juulsen makes the team?

Probably pretty good as one of the few RHD options.

How do you come to this conclusion exactly? What makes Dermott and Fleury locks? I get Juulsen, Mckeown because they are righties and Hicketts and Sanheim because they are returning (even though I think that Hicketts should not be there when compared to other players helps that he plays right but I really dont like him when I watch).

Id imagine that the last two spots on the left side are going to go with the guys that play the best and deserve them I dont see what Fleury and Dermott have done at this point to separate themselves. Chabot skates better than both of them Hickey, Chychurn and Lauzon are no slouches either.

With Fleury, McKenzie put him as a lock and realistically he's the best defenceman Canada has defensively. There is no way he's cut. Dermott could be cut, but he seems to be hot lately.

Oh those are great

Thank you

Does anyone know if this cis games will be televised or streamed?

Thanks

Streamed here apparently: http://portal.stretchinternet.com/cis/

CIS vs Canada game tonight

Does anyone have a link to a stream for the CIS game tonight that they can share?

I would love to have heard the conversation between Hockey Canada and the OHL when that Blackwood suspension came down.

OHL: We have to suspend Blackwood. I'm sure you saw it.
HC: You do? Well, a game or two right, doesn't affect us.
OHL: DO YOU FORGET ME?!? I'M DAVID BRANCH. 800 GAMES!

Thought Chuchryn did not have a good practice. As the session went on you could tell the D were getting tired. Thought mckeowan and dermott looked good.

That's not surprising.

It would be a surprise if he makes the final cut.

If he cant make the team this year he will probably not make the nhl next year???

Hockey canada needs to include some 17 year olds this year so they can be back next year

Other nations include 17 yearolds hc needs to do the same

He doesn't need anything of the sort, nor does Team Canada. If he's not ready for this level, he's not ready. It's that simple. from what I've seen of him play, he could use another year of junior next year, so he'll have another shot at making the team next year. He has a ways to go yet. and there's plenty of time for him to make Team Canada WJ edition. I think he should play U18 first in April.

That's brutal logic. Hockey Canada has a larger talent pool than most who carry under-aged players.

As expected, Marner, Strome, Crouse, Point, Hicketts and Fleury will be sitting out tonights game against the CIS. I would have thought Sanheim would be amongst this group as well.

Well they do need some players to play

They are dressing 8 defenceman; one would think 7 in a game like this would suffice. I have no vested interest in either making the team, I am just not quite sure what Fleury has done to solidify his spot before Sanheim given their play this year.

The CIS game is on TSN 2 tomorrow. I have TSN 1, TSN 3 TSN 4 TSN 5 and the game is on the one I don't get. Go figure.
