Well the tourney kicks off with a pretty good match, Canada vs the USA. Many new faces on the Red and White, 10 new faces for Canada who are playing their first World Senior Tournament game. Will seem strange seeing no Haley. Getting ready to watch on the telly via TSN.

Considering we have 10 brand new players on the senior team. I'll be extremely happy with a gold, this is all for preparation for the Olympics. This is why they have 10 brand new players, the youth system is kicking in new young talent and what better way to get them ready for the biggest tournament in the world then showcasing them in this tournament.

It's also why Poulin has the 'C' and not Oullette. I'm guessing this tournament means that Labonte won't be with the National Team anymore. The Canadian defense is rather green as well. The Polish-Canadian Halli Krzyzaniak is only 19 years old. Her first national experience was at the 4 Nations tournament last season as a 18 year old. She'll be a player that will represent Canada for a long time as a premiere defender.

Obviously I'm hoping Canada takes it, but that remains to be seen. Would have been great to see Japan advance to the quarter finals as well, seeing them in 1st was pretty cool. I hope they can take Germany and avoid relegation. Overall there have been some pretty tight games in B pool.

What are your predictions going forward?

I will go Japan over Germany in relegation series, give the Germans a fighting chance losing 2-1. Japs have been strong over the last few years and are use to winning these series, while the Germans have been held off the score sheet in two straight matches.

In Quarters, I will take the Russians, been loving the progress of their program going back a few years before the Olympics. Unless Grahm or Borgqvist play outstanding.
I dont know why but I like the Swiss over the Finns, they have a nice scoring threat with the both Martys, Stanz and Stalder. Plus with Schelling in net....that and I dont know if I really trust Finland without Räty in net.

After this, Canada and US of course win, Gold medal game, ohh big surprise.
Russians over Swiss in the Bronze.
Im unsure who I would pick in the Gold medal game, the winner from the first match doesnt really mean they have the edge, I keep thinking back to when the Americans routed Canada 9:2 but then lost the Gold in a close fought 5:4/OT game. I guess I would lean more towards the Americans just because the way they won the first game, but I keep looking at how poor their goalkeeping has been and the fact they havent really been tested in 3 matches. I guess I will go with Canada based on goalkeeping.

Does anyone know why Raty isn't in the tournament? Injured or...? I was looking on elite prospects and it looks like her season is over in whatever men's league she played for.

USA beat Russia 13-1 in the other semifinal, Canada up 3-0 against Finland.
Disinterested the tournament...
My tip: 1. Usa 2. Canada 3. Finland 4. Russia

I miss Anna Prugova and Anna Shokhina.
