Loney, 23, played 5 games for Norfolk after his NCAA career at the University of Denver was over.

Reading this gave me a chuckle from the past. In the 85-86 season, Brent Loney was on the Bears roster. One night when he came out for warm-ups, someone had taped a B & A on his back spelling BALONEY.

Megan has split the last two seasons between the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage and the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones.

Last season, Megan played 59 regular season games with San Antonio and scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points. He also played in three Calder Cup Playoff games for the Rampage, but did not register a point.

What happens if an NHL team wants to offer a contract to someone on an AHL contract? Would a team like the Islanders be able to sign Mark Zengerle away from Grand Rapids?

There are no rules to prevent it, but it's unlikely to happen. I've done those kinds of list for over 5 years and I don't recall seeing a team "stealing" a player on an AHL contract.

First signing of the off-season for the Falcons :
Today the Springfield Falcons have announced that goaltender Tyler Beskorowany has signed an American Hockey League contract.

Beskorowany, 25, returns to the AHL after playing last season in the German Elite League with Duesseldorf EG. The six-foot-five netminder posted 26 wins; third most in the league, a 2.53 goals against average and a .923 save percentage that was tied for fifth-best in the league. Beskorowany last played in North America during the 2013-14 season with stints in the ECHL; San Francisco and Orlando, and the AHL with St. John’s. While with the IceCaps, he went 7-2-2 with a 2.20 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in 12 games played. The Sudbury, Ontario native also has 41 games played between two seasons with the Texas Stars from 2010-2012. Beskorowany was drafted in the second round, 59th overall, by the Dallas Stars in 2008.

Just a little housecleaning on the second post regarding transactions for some guys who played on AHL contracts in 2014-15.

Albany Devils F Myles Bell has signed a 1-year contract with Stjernen Hockey (Norway). I noticed he's actually missing entirely from second post's listing of 2014-15 AHL free agents.

Albany Devils D Eric Baier has signed a 1-year contract with the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL).

Hershey Bears D Michal Cajkovsky has signed a 1-year contract with HC Sparta Praha (Czech).

Lehigh Valley Phantoms F Pat Mullane has signed a 1-year contract with Assat Pori (Finland).

Manchester Monarchs F Geoff Walker has signed a 1-year contract with Lowen Frankfurt (Germany-2).

A number of years ago, the NHL Sharks needed a goalie. Signed Brian Boucher who was on AHL deal. They did talk with NHL team of AHL affiliate before the signing.

Wasn't Jeff Hamilton on an AHL contract with the Chicago Wolves back in 2008/09 when he was signed to an NHL deal with Toronto mid-season?

The Checkers have brought back reigning AHL Man of the Year Kyle Hagel, signing him to an AHL contract.

The 30-year-old winger made an impact both on and off the ice in his first season with the Checkers. On the ice, Hagel was a physical force, ranking fourth in the AHL with 22 major penalties, all for fighting. His 154 penalty minutes led the team and are tied for the third-highest single-season total in franchise history. He also chipped in four points (2g, 2a) while grinding out significant minutes for the team.

Off the ice, Hagel was an integral part of the Checkers' efforts in the community, earning his fifth consecutive team Man of the Year award as well as winning the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the AHL's overall Man of the Year.
