Considering most people (myself included) thought they were done after they lost to the Czechs I think Russian Hockey should be pleased with the overall results.

Why should we be pleased? We had a better team compared to highly touted canadain future superstars, generational talents, whatever. Should have won it, but both goalies have let us down in the one game that mattered. That happens. But there is nothing to be pleased about.

I've just seen stats from Under-18 World Championship 2014, and best scorers in our team were:
PILIPENKO Kirill 5Games 5Goals+2Assists=7Points
SVECHNIKOV Yevgeni 5GP 3G+4A=7P
VOVCHENKO Danil 4 1+3=4
NIKOLISHIN Ivan 5 2+3=5
LYAMKIN Nikita 5 0+5=5

Are they progressing? Could they improve our team this year? Or next year?

These are guys among others supposed to form the core of the next year's roster. They alll should beon the roster. Add Kamenev, Dergachyov, Sharipzyanov, Provorov and it looks at least okay.

its not a hate. it more like mental recharging himself and team which asleep.
And it must make angry opponent - and opponent will start make mistakes.

You are in Toronto, playing against Canada. Canada plays extremely physical hockey, making borderline illegal hits. Just look at Nurse trying to get the puck from one of the Russian players. Everyone on the forum said that Nurse was a monster and actually thought he was doing a good job. The guy was just attacking Russian like an animal, pushing, shoving, not even trying to get the puck....I would be irritated as hell as well, I am not even sure how it's legal to do that ****, when you just throw yourself at your opponent time after time after time...absolutely disgusting. Public cheering after each hit more so than they cheer after each goal...constant trash talk from Canadians.

They don't hate anyone. Game with Sweden was fine, because Sweden play decent hockey, Canada plays this chippy I am going to be in your face all game long kind of hockey, and that's why Russians became irritated.

For some reason Canadians think that only taunting is frowned upon, but otherwise your can do whatever your want on the ice. There are ways to be douchbags even witthin the rules of the game. Again it never comes up when Russia plays any other team, it's just Canadians are always in their faces.

Well, Russia always wants gold - anything less is a disappointment. So basically, as a fan, I was disappointed by the game. What I wasn't disappointed about, is that they came back to a 5-4 score. They really tried hard, you could see that, so no one can say those guys didn't play their heart out. And that's important.

Didn't the Russian U-18s win this year? They made an epic comeback too. Let's hope that they'll perform well for Russia in the coming WJCs.

What do you base the "we don't hate them" comment on? Did you notice Domi and No. 10 jostling Leschenko and Buchnevich before the opening face off last night? What about the sportsmanship there? What about No. 3 and all of the other Canadians who took a shot at Russians after every whistle?

but the wjc team will be competitive for sure and very big with gus like svechnikov, korshkov, dergachyov, kraskovsky, letunov, guryanov, korostelev, kamenev and what not, they are all mastodons all right, i like it

My point is stuff happens with all teams. It's a tough, violent sport. Add teenage hormones and immaturity into the mix and even more stuff happens.

I am okay with hitting. And Ovechkin certainly is somewhat of an enigma for Russian hockey. I always found it funny that Canada has a prototypical Russian player in Crosby and Russia has a prototypical Canadian player in Ovechkin. Hitting is good, passion is good. Whatever Nurse was doing to a guy who is twice his size was simply disgusting to watch. Again, I have no idea how it was legal, he was completely outmatched and was sepparated from the puck but kept pushing his head into his body and constantly checking him from behind. I am okay with physical play...that was opposite of the physical play, I don't even know what to call it.

I think Russia played really well to abuse Canadian eagerness to hit everything in sight. I much rather see slick passing and great individual effort than whatever nurse was trying to do.

Then, during the gold medal game, one of them starts taunting the Canadian bench after the goal. When they lost, a Russian player throws his stick into the crowd, hitting and cutting open a fan in attendance. yep but i seen what SWEden coach does at previous WJC when he maintained and set up a fight with the players on the Russianю Their previous coach was a perfect specialist who won a gold for them. And he send players for brawl after game. There no same nervous hate fights between Russia and Canada - it was idiotic so Swe did not nothing with that coach.

Im Canadian and I know that Russia could have won this game too, its was a great game by two great team and its doesnt bother that the Russian taunted the Canadian bench they are teenagers its no big deal.

As a neutral fan, I was hoping for a Russian comeback. Such an entertaining game. Real mental toughness to not let that 4-goal lead take them out of the game. They could have easily turned it around for the win.

I don't know about pulling Shesty so early. Yeah, it was a bad start, but those will happen. He gets you that far, I figured may as well let him play more than 3 minutes. I guess that's something that will be debated over the next few months. Sorokin did well, all things considered.

Some might find the taunting of the Canadian bench to be a bit much, but I thought it was a ballsy move. Get them angry and fire up the team. Made for a good storyline in the game. Besides, there was a lot of jostling, pushing, shoving, hitting and that on both sides. Neither was what you would call saintly.

Overall, it was a pretty solid team. Really happy Shesty and Buchnevich did well as a NYR fan. They look like good talents to have in the system. I wouldn't mind drafting Leschenko, as an over-ager, either. A few guys on there looked quite solid.

Everything Nurse was doing was legal have you ever heard of free hand? He's not using his stick its legal and anyone can do it. I don't know why playing a physical team angers you, in the NHL, KHL etc there are teams that are more physical and chippy than others.
