Pretty much. I am hopeful all of these people remember this when he makes the team and looks good. They aren't allowed to cheer.

This is ridiculous. I'm probably Miller hater #1 around here, but I always want JT to succeed. Nothing would please me more than eating crow on my thoughts on JT.

If he lifts the cup in Rangers blue I'm going to cheer as loud as everyone else, thank you very much :pout:

Anyway, I'd say the depth chart for 3C right now is probably:

Miller
Lindberg
Hayes

(If we're assuming Moore is locked into 4C).

It's JT's to lose. Let's see what he's got

EDIT - You were probably being facetious, but I'm sure there are people out there who actually believe what you wrote

The groups:

Team A: Ryan Bourque, Dan Boyle, Jesper Fast, Tanner Glass, Carl Hagelin, Steven Kampfer, Michael Kostka, Chris Kreider, Danny Kristo, Matthew Lombardi, Henrik Lundqvist, Ryan Malone, Ryan Mantha, J.T. Miller, John Moore, Chris Mueller, Sam Noreau, Mackenzie Skapski, Marty St. Louis, Marc Staal, Derek Stepan, Petr Zamorsky

Team B: Conor ARllen, Mat Bodie, Chris Bourque, Derick Brassard, Cedric Desjardins, Anthony Duclair, Dan Girardi, Ryan Haggerty, Kevin Hayes, Marek Hrivik, Tommy Hughes, Matt Hunwick, Kevin Klein, Oscar Lindberg, Ryan McDonagh, Dylan McIlrath, Dominic Moore, Rick Nash, Lee Stempniak, Cam Talbot, Nick Tarnasky, Mats Zuccarello

Team C: Nathan Burns, Brandon Halverson, Keegan Iverson, Michael Kantor, Nickolas Latta, Paxton Leroux, Troy Donnay, Chris McCarthy, Jason Missiaen, Richard Nejezchleb, Logan Nelson, Josh Nicholls, Ryan Potulny, Michael St. Croix, Adam Tambellini, Dallas Valentine, Daniel Walcott, Andrew Yogan

Could infer a few things if so inclined...St Louis, Stepan, and Kreider are in one group, while Brassard, Zucc, and Nash (and Stempniak) are in another. Miller and Hayes also in different groups for some head to head competition, but Miller is also in the group with Hagelin which might lead to some speculation that he has the edge since he'll likely be paired up with a sure fire roster player on his wing, while Hayes looks to have more questionable linemate selection

Lets go hayes! Jt got so much NHL time with torts and saw no improvement...

"So much NHL time with Tortorella" as a 19-20 year old.

Then as a 20-21 year old he scored over PPG in the AHL.

"No improvement"?

Miller is a year younger than Hayes, and already tore up a professional league. Hayes has yet to skate one shift at the pro level.

Miller lead two US teams to gold medals in the largest international tournaments for prospects. U-18 WJC gold and U-20 WJC gold.

But because Miller had to adjust to the NHL game as a teenager and a 20 year old, he's old news and a bust to some...what does that make a 22 year old who hasn't skated a shift as a professional...double standards.

From those groups it's pretty clear they want to see how Glass works with Stepan and St. Louis

Let Malone show up and play before writing him off. The Rangers want to be bigger. I think Hayes starts in the AHL but gets promoted halfway through the season. I don't see Glass lasting on this team very long if Malone can stick. There are more talented players that are younger and we'll be pushing for his spot (Hayes, Fast, Lindberg) as well as Lombardi if he makes it

Haggerty.

Sure. Him too.

Group C looks like the group that gets sent home first

I personally feel (not that it matters what I feel) that he will quickly establish himself as the top winger competing for a spot. I think he is going to open eyes.

Yeah, unfortunately for Group C, it will take a miracle to stick. They will probably get cut quickly so the staff can focus on and start weeding out the players who are really competing for a spot.

Its good for that Group C to be around a few days, though. Let them get a taste and glimpse of the NHL so they push to get into a position where they are on management's radar.

While I like Haggerty a lot, I don't think one Traverse City Tournament and being around the Rangers since August proves anything. Nice shot. But there are others with more pro experience (Fast, Miller, Lindberg) as well young guys coming on the scene from college/juniors with him (Hayes, Duclair, McCarthy, etc.) and veterans who have played in the NHL regularly at a time even if it wasn't recent success (Malone/Lombardi) for me to think Haggerty starts in the AHL. Just my opinion.

Zucc and Brass feeding Duclair/Haggerty *drool*

I disagree. Based on the groupings and Traverse City, I think AV is keeping Duclair-Hayes-Haggerty together.

Really gives you an idea of what they think about Yogan and St. Croix at this point in their development.

Scoring a lot of goals for the Edmonton Oil Kings was nice and all but he needed to translate that game to the Pros. It is not over for St.Croix by any means BUT the Rangers management has done a phenomenal job bringing more young talent through the draft and free agency. There's so much competition and much more depth in our farm system. There may have been a time, say a year and a half ago, when St.Croix was in our top 20 prospects, but with all the additions he is sliding down the list fast.

Hmmm, J Moore is in group A while K. Klein is in B. Why? I'd get it if the Rangers wanted to test them with next in line on RD and LD, respectively, but both Allen and McIlrath in group B. Any thoughts?

Poor Team C....seeing your name on that team must be depressing as hell lol.

Lol, totally my first thought too. If you are in Team C, it basically means to pack your bags cus you'll be gone soon.

Good too see Missiaen and not Skapski on Team C. Really hope Skapski and Desjardins can shutdown the AHL as a tandem this year.

Feelin' good on a Wednesday
Seems to me that people are really giving it to JT. I have felt like he's shown a ton of patience with the puck... Probably too much. Which is odd given his age/state of development. Usually the game is rushed at that point... It feels too fast for these guys and once it slows down, they can thrive.

He already has that... To a fault. That's not something I've seen much of in a kid his age.

Not sure if it's better or worse or if the development curve is quicker or higher for that process but I'm inclined to see where it takes him. Doesn't seem to be a lot of panic in him.

Groups A and B just looks like a spreading out of the vets and certainties amongst rookies who are closer to NHL-ready. Nothing wrong with that...have to have competitive scrimmages and provide them mentoring.

yeah, i just wish they didnt waste any time by putting team c players into preseason games.

at least its not as bad as last year where they had to insert a new system to the team..but we've had a good amount of turnover...i feel like cutting down to say 25-30 players sooner rather than later is an ideal way of going about running a camp.

just my 2 cents anyways.

i agree with you. Have the team down to two full squads (each consisting of 12F, 6D, 2G), composed of the Rangers and vast majority of the Wolf Pack teams. Have guys like Duclair there too, high end prospect who should get a chance to show what he's got.

There is no need for a Michael Kantor or Jason Missiaen in a pre-season game.

I don't think anyone from group C will be anywhere near a preseason game. I'm sure they'll be sent to juniors/wolfpack camp on Sunday.
