id also play the 4th line a ton of mins.

I'd consider putting Falk in there over G or Staal. I'd also think about giving some other players some rest and putting in Carcillo and Haggerty.

For the Rangers to have a chance to succeed in the playoffs, Henke will need to be the best player on the ice each night. That and Nash AND MSL will need to score goals. Which means Nash doing what he has not been successful in doing in the playoffs in the past. And St. Louis doing what he has not done since being traded here.

Exactly my thinking. Hell, I'd call up McIlrath, Allen, Lindberg and Kristo to see what they have.

Sit:
Nash
MSL
Richards
Hagelin

Girardi
Staal
McDonagh

Fast-Stepan-Kristo
Pouliot-Brassard-MZA
Carcillo-Lindberg-Haggerty
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Allen-Stralman
Moore-Klein
Diaz-McIlrath

It's a good opportunity to give these players a game to show them what they have to play for moving forward.

I think Dorsett gets some rest, he went into the boards super hard and looked to be hurting some. Its the kind of injury that bruises and hurts more the next day. I'm also not sure they sit MSL because they want to get him more comfortable, but it might be a good idea to sit them and have them watch tape like they did with John Moore when he was out. Let them watch tape together and discuss what they want to do as a line. I would love to see Lindberg and Kristo get a game of action.

There's a limit of 4 call-ups as long as Hartford still has games left. They've already used two.

I don't think its common place to do that. Usually, coaches like to have most of their guys in just so that they don't get rusty, even if it is only a 3-4 day gap for most teams.

I think its definitely within the realm of possibility that we can see carcillo and haggerty, but none of the guys from HFD will be called up IMO.

I can see Nash being sat, to give him some rest, but MSL should be kept in there. He needs to find a groove and who knows if in the next game he'll score a hatty and set himself up for the playoffs.

Don't make too many changes.

Just have Lindberg (replacing Richards), Kristo (replacing Nash) and Falk (instead of Stralman). Have the first two to give them a shot and have Falk to get some gametime going into the play offs.

1st Round Matchup

For a while it seemed like us and Philly were a lock to play in round one. CBJ has been hot the past few games and closed the gap as both have 91 points with 2 games to play.I know that we still have one game left so forgive me if this is a bit premature.

We have solidified the 2 seed in the Metro and I'm curious as to who everyone would rather play in round 1? Philly or Columbus? Both are big physical teams, which most people here seem to think we will struggle against.

For the most part, we have owned Philly in recent memory and their defense and goaltending situation does not scare me one bit. We know they can and will score. They have also gone hot and cold multiple times this season.

Columbus is a whole different story. Will they bring out the best in Rick Nash? Would all of our trades come back to haunt us? Their offense doesn't scare me as much as Philly. They can score, but I feel like McD(if healthy) + G will shut down their first line. On the other hand, Bobrovksy could easily steal them a game.

Both series have their pros and cons. I think I would prefer Columbus. We have a history with them, but we also have a more experienced team. Over 7 games I dont feel like their offense would be able to keep up with us.

Columbus by a mile. Remember when the Thrashers owned us all season long and then we met them in the playoffs and destroyed them 4-0? Teams that aren't used to being in the playoffs (ever) generally don't make a huge splash their first time in after 10 years.

Kinda like the Rangers making it for the first time in 7 years and getting blown out by the Devils.

3 reasons to be positive:

1. Hank
2. Balanced scoring depth and a solid group of defensemen (no need to run only 5 guys into the ground like in 2012).
3. Team has decent playoff experience.

3 reasons to be concerned:

1. Best players not being the best players (does Nash show up? Does MSL find a consistent game? Does Brad pick it up?)
2. Lack of finish rearing its ugly head. Think of all those 40 shot games where they could only manage 1-2 goals.
3. Size. Will they be able to wear opponents down? Or will they be run down?

I think Columbus would have the makings of a classic and could solidify a new serious rivalry. For that I would choose Columbus. That and their playoff inexperience. Philly knows how to play hard playoff hockey and will do what they can to bang the Rangers up.

Not to mention, Philly would play the Penguins, and they own them. CBJ is looking more attractive as the playoffs come closer.

Neither Bob or Mason have that much playoff experience. Still, I'd prefer to not play the reigning Vezina recipient.

Personally I think philly will get overalls involved in goin for hits that they'll get out of position and we can score because we're full of great passers like MSL MZA brass step beaver. And I think our ability to skate the puck up the ice with d men like mactruck and Johnny Moore/ rafi Diaz will be a big factor too

If I recall correctly, CBJ were a harder hitting team than the Flyers, more punishing of the Rangers than the Flyers were, during the regular season games I watched. That was my perception, at least.

Which doesn't necessarily mean I think physical adversity is necessarily bad for the Rangers, but I still like their chances against the Flyers anyway.

CBJ lost in regulation tonight. They are tied with Philly in points, who have more ROWs and a game in hand.
Philly is playing Pitt tomorrow and Carolina on Sunday. Columbus would need some serious help in order to match up against the Rangers. Looking like a Rangers/philly first round matchup.

Columbus is highly unlikely at this point.

A regulation/overtime win for Philly in their last 2 games seals the deal.
