Don't take it so seriously. Obviously, there are plenty of posters who feel it's not too early. I'm just not one of them.

Then why post it? I just don't get the point of your post in a thread that is clearly marked as discussion about the draft.

I wasn't aware that I needed your approval prior to posting.

Seriously dude, get over it. You're one of the most opinionated and argumentative posters on here. Who are you to question me?

I am a poster, same as you who came in here to question all of us. I am on the same level and value around here as you, and as such I have every right to question you.

Don't want to be questioned, don't come in here asking why we have this thread in the first place. What did you expect? :shakehead

I would like to see the Kings in the later rounds, try and find a Strong, big, Tough Defender like Greene.

Maybe around the 4th to 6th round.

I gave you a response to your question. The problem is, my response wasn't to your satisfaction evidently.

Just look at your original question and my response to it. I'm thinking this needless conversation should have ended there...

Kings picks:

LA 1st
Tor 2nd (possibly. TOR option to choose either this year or next to give us)
LA 3rd
LA 4th
LA 5th
Car 6th
LA 6th
LA 7th

Personally hoping David Pastrnak somehow falls to the Kings pick but it won't happen. Kid is the real deal and will shoot up from his current later 1st round rankings.

FWIW my current top 5 is:
1. Reinhart
2. Ekblad
3. Nylander
4. Draisaitl
5. Bennett

Discuss.

I like Bennett to go 2nd overall and I would take Ekblad over Reinhart (character issues that I think will surface prior to the draft. Nothing major but let's just say he wouldn't be a "Dean type" of player).

I have seen a few really solid kids so far this year and I think this coming draft is going to have at least a dozen dandies.

Whose in your avatar?

just out of curiousity how did we get the extra 6th westgarth?

Yep.

"Kevin Westgarth traded from Los Angeles Kings to Carolina Hurricanes for Anthony Stewart, round 4 pick in the 2013 draft (Kyle Platzer) and round 6 pick in the 2014 draft"

We flipped the fourth to Edmonton in the deal to trade up and get Zykov. Edmonton used the 4th on Platzer.

I see defense as the only real 'need' for the draft as well cns, though I'm not sure we need a puckmover per se.

The reason I question the need to draft a goalie is more based on where we need that goalie. Gibson flopping on us left us a hole in that goalie pipeline. The way it was ideally set to go was Jones would be ready to be a backup by now, Berube should be getting starts in Manchester, Gibson should be starting out in the ECHl and we'd have one other goalie (Bartosak) working his way up in junior.

Jones however hasn't grabbed the reigns yet, Berube has flopped since turning pro, Gibson flopped even before that and as such we really only have a few long shots in Jones and Berube, and then Bartosak in junior.

What we need is someone in the pipeline NOW. Someone who is a year or so away from reaching the NHL.

That's why taking a flyer on a Euro goalie is more ideal IMO. There are some out there worth taking a shot at, I was hoping we'd get Raanta last year, but he elected to go to Chicago.

I agree completely.

I haven't even begun to put a list together but I have seen some exceptionally solid D prospects that should be late 1st to mid 2nd rounders for the coming draft that would look great in a Kings uni. I strongly believe that the CSS rankings will be largely different by the end of this season. Substantially different then they look today.

I always worry about defenseman very very early in the draft. I love Ekblad but I'm still weary. Haven't heard any attitude issues on Reinhart yet. I'm actually not extremely high on this draft. Next year? Going to be insane. 2015 draft will be world class.

I think Gravel will be our Greene replacement but I agree, it would be nice to pick up another big hard nosed kid too.

I think Gravel is a Scuderi replacement. Greene may be selling Gravel short. I too would like to see a big, physical crease clearer added. There isn't one in the pipeline. And it's fine to take those types of guys late in the draft, not with a top 15 pick. Teubert isn't even playing this year in NA. Terrible pick and ALWAYS was.

Vladimir Tkachev - remember the name. Russian Johnny Gaudreau. Wow. If he's available in the 3rd round, you absolutely have to take him. But if he can keep playing the way he is in the SSS, he might not be.

I will tell you prepare to be surprised by this draft class. There are several very solid players coming along.

I have been following Gravel since prior to our drafting him and believe I have him pretty well dialed in but I hope to be surprised and see him be able to reach Scuderi's level of play. Don't get me wrong, I love KG and have been saying so for a few years now it is just that I see his skillset as more of an early RR/MG then I do a Scuderi.

More grit and positioning then read. Either way he will be a very solid Dman for us and I can't hardly wait to see him with us in a couple of seasons.

As for Tuebert I can only agree entirely. What DL did to get the pick was as bad as the player he took. That said, DL and MF have been so very elite in their drafting that I will give them their occasional busts vs their insane amount of successes.

Tueberts attitude was well known before his draft and it more than anything is the reason for his failure imo.

Oh and on Reinhart's attitude you heard it here first then. Remember it a couple of years from now when he ends up being little more than a highly skilled average player. Skill is great but it takes a ton more then talent to make it in the NHL.

sits back stays quiet and learns about the future players. Thinking i ll get as good a education reading this as anything i would see on sportnet and tsn

Bob McKenzie's draft stuff is good. As much as I think Craig Button is an ass hat, he's also a well respected draft guy and has been very successful in that field, so when he does his draft rankings, they are worth paying attention to as well. Does anyone know if he's still doing those this year?

Sportsnet is a waste for draft info though, at least in my opinion.

Yes.

I love Ekblad, saw this kid a lot in in Barrie , he`s the real deal, he`s been playing in Barrie since he`s 15 yrs old . I woul
d love to see the Kings draft him.

Ivan Nalimov making scouts take notice. Great game for him in the SSS, his 2nd.

A serious question CSN. Do you live in Russia ? How do you get the scoop on all these Russian players.

You have called some big picks in those later rounds on Russian guys.
