Like the way you guys are sitting for the draft. Going to be some interesting players available.

19. Tampa Bay Lightning - Ivan Barbashev - Moncton Wildcats - LW

The Lightning add to their growing pool of Europeans with offensive flair by snagging Barbashev at 19th overall. Barbashev is a Russian forward who has gained the reputation of playing a very North American style of game in that he grinds and plays the body. If not a forward of this type, I could see them adding an offensive defender.

If not Barbashev: Julius Honka

No problem with Barbashev at 19. What's confusing is they say if not Barbashev then Honka and when they get to 28 they have Schmaltz instead of Honka who's still available.

Sorry, this happened because when I first posted I had the Rangers still sitting at 28th. I think Honka would be a great target for them at 28th, too.

i doubt barbashev will be up for grabs at 19th.
how does honka at 19th and possibly goldobin at 28th sound?

Low interest in goldobin myself not saying typical russian but needs work in d end and struggles with physicality. That is not the way we are building this team. Maybe can overcome those issues but to me since he does have them I would much rather move back down acquire more picks if he was the best guy available.

Think you have to be careful with him am sure though if we like him murray and stevie etc.. have and will talk to him make sure he will do what is necessary to become a force in NHL.

He seems to have a high hockey IQ at least offensively. He has the dekes and moves and will score and is for sure a very high level player wise as a play maker of the future. Saying in english he really sees the ice well and if has the puck he is seriously dangerous if plays with high level talented team mates.

So with him the reward would be good if he will play the style we will demand. If not he would be a bust type of deal for us and have to move him down the road even though the offensive side of the game is there for us if wanted him.

So is all about the evaluation and how the scouts feel about his inconsistency to play defense and sacrifice on that end for his team etc. I personally wouldnt take the risk but we never know what murray or stevie think and i trust them if they go after him they believe they can mold him to be what we need for the future.

We have a lot of top level scoring guys. We need that to be balanced and all the scoring talent in world does not win you cups in todays nhl maybe one like pittsburgh but they seem few and far between.

So yes I personally like the kid but is a dislike for tampa. At least is a wary feeling of hmmm this will not be really a safe pick.

We really need this picks to work out with what we truly lost. Now a lot of that depends on marty's future but I still think he goes another 3 years at least. So that makes what we got for him a lot less than we maybe view it to be.

I view what we got for MSL not a home run. Maybe a double. We should have won the world series trading MSL so we cant screw up the first rounders we get at all.

We need at least grand slams since imho we got less than deserved by a lot.

Not saying stevie didnt pull a miracle he did. Yet is still not even remotely close to enough.

P.S. Mortgage Broker and Space manatee welcome to forum glad to have more fans:)

To MB no dont see us moving up don't see stevie willing to give up pieces we have really done well at draft and really can use the bodies to develop in the future.

Thank you Robert.

How do you guys feel about Fleury? Can he be had at #14 or so? Wouldnt be that hard to trade up a few spots

I think is no way fleury is not top 9. I cannot see less than 2 defenders go in top 10.

Is a weird draft though so anything after the top 3 seems possible lol.

I really doubt if he doesnt go before 8 more like number six. His question is scoring he has the first pass he is calm he is big he is legit top 4 of future shut down type at least. I think he does develop enough scoring. I would say he is in top six unless is forwards loved more etc..

I have seen sanheim at number six and 8 which to me is crazy and honka go in second round among others.

Is a crazy year for sure. Fleury and ekblad though you really cant go wrong they will be nhl guys. Cant see them not off board early myself.

Fluery is a good player but the ceiling between him and Sanheim isn't much different so prefer to not trade up and grab Sanheim with one of the 1sts.

Honka is falling like an anvil to sea,he's now projected to go at the beginning of the second round, could be the steal of the draft.

And if you ever feel bored you should go and read Sabres draft-threads, they are absolutely hilarious

They're comparing Reinhart to Messier in the leadership department and his defensive game to Patrice Bergeron :biglaugh:

Hey guys, I heard TSN guys talking about a FA player who is NHL-ready they said he was 6'2" and had a very good year in KHL. Most scouts that they talked about said he was ready to step in at the NHL. The only thing is I didn't catch the name....Anyone else seen or heard this? also wondering if he would be a realistic option...

That seems to be Jiri Sekac. -> http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=122908

There's a thread on the trade board about him, but all I know about him is apparently he has several offers from NHL teams for a max ELC.

Maybe Palat could help us get him to Tampa.

Not sure where he'd fit, but 6'2" 190lbs with Skill, might not be a bad idea to at least give him a look.

I cant see him coming to tampa. Only because a lot of people feel he is basically NHL ready and is too much competition in tampa right now for him to get a job. He would have to go to ahl first with us imho.

Good luck to the kid though he is big, young and interesting for sure.

Probably a NJ signing...

bobby mac says is 12 legit full top offers for him so far is why cant see him coming here can go to florida or calgary or a crap team and play right now in nhl.

I think he would do good to spend a couple years in AHL but wouldnt blame him for getting his feet wet.

We just got too many legit guys to compete with for him. Is not a spot I dont think.

I like him hes interesting if can fill out frame know doesnt play physical but maybe buys into that too.

People questioned his skating as unorthodox but what I saw he looks good like some very good nhl guys. He needs work on boards with puck our controlling puck when guy is on him etc.. but everyone needs work and is what 22 now. That is younger than a lot of these europeans who come over or back over say like a brunner.

I disagree with you once again. We do have a lot of competition but there's always room for more especially if they're good. It's hard to see what his entire game looks like from those clips but his is smooth in the offensive zone with a solid frame. He's also a LW which we could use on the 3rd line. He can give Killorn a run for 2nd line spot or Brown on the 3rd, he seems better then Brown who we can then move to the 4th line. We do like late bloomers and he's definitely another one so who knows maybe we try to sign him.

DID NOT SAY WE WOULDNT TRY.

Said he won't come here. He has 12 teams who offered him max. At least one of those teams allows him to go in and take a job. To me we don't win those battles is like guys deciding to go to college football they want a spot and to play immediately some teams get away with not doing that but a lot of kids want a spot and choose a lesser team to take that spot. I do not blame them and do not blame this kid.

I just know what read what videos can look up etc.. Offensively the kid has a shot. Defensively is very questionable and even though is 6'2 he is non physical so far.

I personally would be shocked if came here and thank palat or someone who was able to get him here etc..

NJ the jets calgary all have guys he has played with or knows. They all have a need for him right now imho. Among others panthers are in mix.

Maybe he comes here but I would put us like at 5% and always pleasantly surprised anyone we add is always another good thing hope they pan out:)

He played with jagr and hudler. Scored with both of them. He has same hometown as pavelec and frolic and same agent.

I would take him support him and hope for him just very doubtful.

any idea why he's dropping so fast? It's kinda crazy to me. If he's on the board at 29-30 and we dont take him, we would be fools. He was in the 16-20 range like a month ago.

People don't think his game will translate. I agree with them in some ways. At 19 I would not pick him, but at 28 it would be a good pick.

Size but that was my concern but you watch him play in the videos? Kid is a dammed forward playing defense and has all the tools. He is gonna be an nhl player imho and I didnt want him to my shame but going back watching him how he gained a couple inches and weight? This kid might become exceptional.

I would play him as a forward if cant cut it as d man and he would be a top six player in my opinion.
