I think we would regret moving Atkinson. Kid still has a lot of potential. I wouldn't mind us moving our first and potentially both seconds though. Don't know what that could get us except a better first...or what about another first next years draft in hope that whatever team we get it from will have a down year next year.

i agree he has tons of potential and skill, but he doesn't fit with the identity of the team. I don't particularly care if we trade him or keep him, but if there is a chance to improve the team and he is one of the pieces, he gone

I agree if we can get a more physical/bigger version of him im all for it. But hes the only pure scorer we have. But if management feels hes already reached his potential than i have faith in them to do whats best for the team.

He doesn't fit? Like Gaborik didn't fit? What a joke....is our "identity" to not have any skilled goal scorers outside of Johansen?

yes, that is PRECISELY what i'm saying... :shakehead

Not every player on the team needs to be a grinder/hitter. We have Hartnell, Dubinsky, Foligno, Horton...what we need is some pure skill scoring, which is what Gabby brought and what Cam brings. If we trade Cam it would hopefully be for on upgrade in the department...

Gaby didn't get blown off the puck with a puff of air, Cam does far more than he doesn't...yes we need goal scorers, but ones that bang the body. Like I said, since apparently i have to repeat myself, I'm fine if we keep Cam, but if we can get an upgrade, I am 100% happy to send him in a deal to make that happen.

With all this CORSI talk in the Hartnell thread, I do want to add that Cam has the second highest CF% in the past two years on this team. You can take that how you want, but I think Cam plays a bigger part than we all realize.

What would it take to get Jeff Skinner? He's the guy I look at in a dream scenario...Young, skilled, good....

Would Cam + 1st + (2nd?) do the job? What would it realistically take to land Skinner?

Many moving parts today around the #NHL today; #NHLJets hearing some interest in Alex Burmistrov, among others. Remember him? #bn

Really surprised but once again I keep hearing Max Pacioretty's name out there as available when talking to agents and scouts. #mtlhockey

You right, it's the old addage that you have to willing to give to get. However, the only player I would remove from your list would be Dubinsky. He's the glue in the room, the leader and has helped to change the culture of this club more than any player we've ever had. Involving him in a deal is the only non-starter to me (outside of our untouchables). If the rumors are true and we are after Kesler (and assuming he adds the Jackets to his list), I think we'd all be ecstatic about Johansen, Kesler and Dubinsky in the center of our top three lines. I really think that we're looking to upgrade our #2C so that we can slot Dubie where he belongs.

don't think you could get Kesler without Dubinsky in the deal. Not my preference. I like our center depth and future center depth even more with Wennberg.

We still have yet to sign Joey correct? Can teams begin giving him offers too?

Giving him an offer sheet is pointless since Jarmo has already stated they will match any offer, so in a way, I guess it could speed up the process of signing him

#CBJ GM Jarmo Kekalainen said chatter around the NHL was relatively quiet earlier this week. "Had to make sure everyone has my number."

Not if your purpose is to make the Jackets spend more money then they want to. Not sure if JK has any enemy GM's yet, but if I didnt have a good relationship with him and was in the same division, i may force his hand

Right now the cap for next season will be at $68M and that's causing problems. But wait ! NHL and NHLPA are still talking. Final # to come.

Now that the deal is complete. We could have got the job done with Arty. I'm trying to think of a comparable to Sbisa. Might have been able to get away with just Arty and our first. Maybe Prout would have been a possibility as well. Kesler really limited the return the Canucks got. Had he increased his list, they would have got more. With the news about a $68M cap next season, there will be more trades involving teams looking for relief. This plays into Jarmo's hands because smaller costs are going to lead to greater returns. The Jackets are in a pretty good spot here.

a fair Sbisa comparable would be Erixon, no?

This news about the cap not going as high as once expected... I kinda like it?

Erixon is probably right. I think I would have been okay with Anisimov, Erixon and either our first round pick or both our second round picks.

It really is too bad that Kesler wasn't willing to come to Columbus, this package or the one mentioned above would have been pretty on par with the Anaheim offer, and I think that it would have been an upgrade to our roster too.

This news could really benefit the Jackets as teams (Chicago, Boston, etc.) will be looking for cap relief and won't be able to compete for top players wanting bigger salaries.
