Seems like everyone is signed except King....which will happen eventually.

Forwards:
Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
King-Stoll-Williams
Clifford-Richards-Lewis

Extra: Nolan, Andreoff (no longer waiver exempt)

Do the Kings move a forward or keep 2 spares?

Defense:
Doughty-Muzzin
RR-Voynov
Greene-Martinez

Extra: McNabb, Schultz

The question is do the Kings do with 2 spare forwards and 1 D or lose a forward and keep 2 D???

You're missing Cracknell. I assume he'll have a shot at making the team..

I also wouldn't leave out the possibility of a lingering injury to Regher to start the season. Otherwise, the Schultz signing was kind of point less.

Those are exactly the lines I would have (still no idea why anyone wants to break up That 70's Line)

As for your question, doubt they keep 8 defenseman, Schultz is probably Manchester bound and McNabb and Greene should split games unless one is noticeably better.

My concern is Andreoff. I like he has more potential than Clifford and Nolan. I hope he can get in some games.

Ideally, the Kings deal Richards' and move Andreoff between Clifford/Nolan and Lewis.

Looks about right. That first line could be lethal if Gabby stays healthy. If Toffoli and Pearson have a tough time (they most likely will), Richards could always move back up with Carter. Hopefully he's in better shape this upcoming season...

Richards is going to surprise a lot of you next year. He's never failed to respond spectacularly to a challenge, and Lombardi did just that upon their exit meeting this season. Richards' issues weren't due to some injury or the ever mysterious "his body is breaking down." He simply wasn't in good enough shape for a guy approaching 30 years old. It's like forbidden to admit that he had a perfectly fine first half of this year before his poor conditioning caught up to him and he struggled over the second half of the season.

You simply don't trade a player like Richards on a whim. When he's 33 and has only put up 20 points in consecutive seasons, that's when you think about trading him.

Additionally, the Kings aren't eating a 5+ cap hit to play him on the fourth line with stone hands Lewis. Ideally, I'd like to see the 70s Line stay together until one of Pearson/Toffoli inevitably begins to struggle, as all sophomore players do, at which point Richards and Carter will definitely be united. With everyone playing at their peak, our best, and deepest lineup, looks like this:

Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Clifford-Richards-Williams
King-Stoll-Lewis
Nolan, Cracknell

Muzzin-Doughty
Regehr-Voynov
Martinez-Greene
Mcnabb

Quick
Jones

It's pretty incredible we won the Cup last year with Brown, Richards, and Voynov playing like utter **** at certain points. If everyone from last year merely replicates their performance, and those three marginally improve, you'd have to think we have a pretty good shot at repeating.

You bring up valid points but everyone seems to forget that even at the beginning of the year that Carter and Richards could not keep the puck out of their own net, and that was exactly the case in 2013 as well. Richards was terrible defensively with everyone he played with last year but it was particularly bad with Carter, and it was an all season thing, nothing to do with conditioning.

Carter is better at center and Carter at center enables the Kings to ice more lines capable of scoring. I have no problem with your lineup with Stoll at 4C and Richards at 3C but if Sutter were to change it having Carter at RW just sucks for Toffoli currently and for his long term development. Toffoli played well enough last year to stay at 2RW with Carter and Pearson.

I'd like to see the same lineup that we had in the playoffs and if Richards bounces back he can move up between Williams and King, which would be an upgrade over Stoll. If they both play like they did last year Stoll stays at 3C.

That's fair. However, for better or worse, Kings management has continued to stick to the belief that Richards at his best is the team's second line C. That bumps over Carter to second line RW.

With Gaborik with the team full time we have a lot of different lines to play with and I'm sure we'll see them all at one point. It wouldn't surprise me to see Sutter throw together a "power line" of Gaborik-Kopitar-Carter some point in January when scoring inevitably suffers for a length of time. That opens up a Brown-Richards-Toffoli line.

The lines will be juggled. I'm just confident we'll see a much better Richards next season, which only gives us more options.

Brown Will also be better next year, he pretty much got back to normal after the Games.

He was Dustin Brown of the last six seasons. Pretty good in the playoffs too.

Cracknell is going to beat out Andy for a roster spot(my opinion)on that fourth line.

Andy has many holes in his game, he is not going to get a roster spot just cause he is out of options. Andy will have to put in a stellar camp.

Although if King is not retained, that opens another roster spot.

Would you say the same about McNabb? Everyone has him penciled in for a spot on the roster.

That's an interesting point, but with how much we gave up for McNabb, I doubt Lombardi just wants to lose him to waivers unless he has a downright disastrous camp.

Good summary, especially the last paragraph...it's all about staying healthy. I'm not going to discount the Blackhawks accomplishment in 2013 but truthfully the Kings were struggling with a lot of injuries by the time the WCF rolled around.

I'm just wondering why you desire to be so contrary.

Why in the world would Sutter do that?

Do you think Lombardi had the talk with Richards, so he could continue to be our 4C?

He MAY be our 3C, but my money is that he'll be given every opportunity to be our 2C. And I don't see how I'm being contrary. Because I don't share your pov?

No, because you don't share ANYONE's POV.

I think you summed it up well. I would like the kings to not resign king. I really hate his game! Would rather see the kings give Ville Leino a chance then bring back king. Leino reminds me of how people looked at Justin Williams. Also gives us some more speed and goal scoring. Leino will also be cheaper then king; on a prove it to me contract (like Dany Heatley @ 1for1) and he played with Richards in Philly so it works with our "Philly West" theme

Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Leino-Richards-Williams
Clifford-Stoll-Lewis
Nolan, Cracknell

Muzzin-Doughty
Regehr-Voynov
Martinez-Greene
McNabb

Plus, it gives the kings more options to change lines.

Gaborik-Kopitar-Toffoli
Leino-Richards-Carter
Brown-Stoll-Williams
Pearson-Nolan-Lewis
Clifford, Cracknell

Or

Gaborik-Kopitar-Carter
Pearson-Richards-Williams
Brown-Stoll-Lewis
Clifford-Nolan-Cracknell
Toffoli, Leino

You can't be serious.....The guy that hasn't scored over 10 Goals in in his last 100 NHL games(in the WIDE OPEN EAST)....Over King...

Then folks like you, wonder why the bottom six can't put points on the board.
