Repeat Offender...
lol someone needs to find a video
Here you go. Not surprisingly the lead up to this had 9 or 10 guys (6 for Minnesota, 3-4 for Wisconsin) in the box at one point in the third.

Interview with Rangers prospect Igor Shestyorkin

Have a good read!
It's not rocket science, with the Staal signing, most likely, only 2 of MSL, Hagelin and MZA will be staying. I think the smartest move would be to retain the players who help drive more offense in MSL and MZA. On top of that, Hagelin is a RFA and could garner a return of assets which the other 2 could not after the season as they are UFA's.
MSL + MZA + Assets from trading Hagelin > Hagelin + MSL/MZA
That's why the maturation of Fast has been so important and even if MSL takes a discount, say 3.5, they can't fit everyone.
I just dont know if MSL really drives offense a lot TBH...he's right now more of a product of his linemates at ES than the other way around...his presence doesnt seem to make one bit of difference to them...in fact i'd argue most of the time he hurts them by losing board battles or turning the puck over on blind plays.
Hagelin is a safer player that can play anywhere in your lineup and almost never hurt you.
I'd keep Hagelin over MSL 10 times out of 10
Thats just me.
I think MSL is a PP specialist at this point...he's lethal there...for sure...but I think if you slotted MZA into that spot, you'd lose almost nothing offensively on your 1st pp unit...you might even get some more goals TBH.
Tambellini had a hat trick tonight against Regina.
29 goals and 52 points in 43 games.
Buch had an assist in Severstal's 4-2 loss. Also a +1 with two shots.
On paper, Tambellini sounds very good. Big time scorer, natural center and big frame that is apparently filling out. Comes from a hockey family.
Yet, I don't hear any buzz about him being in the top echelon of prospects.
Can someone who has some firsthand knowledge of the player fill in some blanks?
Good read.
Is there anyway you could interview Buchnevich? It would be much appreciated.
Out of Tambellini's 29 goals, only 3 are PPGs. He's also a tremendous +27, with the 6th best ESGF% in the WHL.
And unfortunately, while CHLStats doesn't track individual players' possession metrics, the Hitmen are the 2nd best possession team in the league, with Tambellini getting 22 minutes a game. Gotta assume he's a good possession player down there.
He's having a very good season and not getting much credit for it.
"@JRNYR: Richard Nejezcleb extends his scoring streak to 7 gms with a goal tonight. 3-6-9 over the span. Has a pt. in 9 of last 10 6-9-15. #NYR #WHL"
"@JRNYR: Nejezcleb has a point in 19 of 23 games in the #WHL this season 12-16-30. Ranks 11th in the league with 7 ppg's #NYR"
Nejezchleb is playing on the Amerk's top line RW with two undrafted O/A in Brian Williams and Beau Mccue.
I posted a translated interview with Buchnevich not long ago http://thehockeywriters.com/pavel-buchnevich-interview-with-new-york-rangers-prospect/ I'll try and interview him later this year but I can't guarantee
How is being on pace for 80-some points in the WHL being a big time scorer? There are over 50 players in the Canadian Juniors who are outscoring him, how does that make him a top echelon prospect? Again, if he were a defense-first player, these would be acceptable stats, but he's an offense-first player. Guys scoring significantly more than him (St. Croix, Christian Thomas) went nowhere. Ryan Bourque scored exactly the same per game at the same age and he's an all-around player, and he still won't be playing in the NHL.
If you review all the past players, the odds of an offense-first player scoring 1.2 points per game in the juniors making it as an NHLer are tiny. He will either need to skyrocket his offense or become a superior defensive player.
Rangers gave up Callahan and two first rounders including this year's for St. Louis. I just don't see them walking away from him if he's at all reasonable about his next contract which I suspect he will be. He's here by choice. How much room that leaves for Zuccarello and/or Hagelin will be the question.

Completely inappropriate way of making decision about the future. By trading Callaghan the Rangers were able to make a run to SCF last year, gearing up for another this year and created cap space to sign players who the management thought to be more essential short and long term. Was it right or wrong decision (did it worked out as intended or not) - it's in the past and should have no influence on what happens this off-season with MSL.
