Hey everyone, just wanted to briefly introduce myself. I'm a new hockey fan, as I'd never seen a game until the Winter Olympics a few months ago. I enjoyed watching Quick play and felt that he was the only player to show up for USA in the final two games. Loved his compete level. I decided to root for whichever NHL team Quick was on. That decision turned out pretty well

Anyways, banner raising game tonight against the sharks? Nice troll job NHL! I'm excited to watch a full season of hockey and have no idea how I've lived without it for so long. Go Kings!

Welcome to the crew. :)

Glad you made the jump. As for me, I started taking the LA Kings seriously when I was homesick and started keeping up with the team via the team's audio stream.

Good Luck to us... Remember people...there's nothing to win until April. Finish 8th for all I care. No one should lose their mind during the season with this team, even if it goes into its usual downturn from XMas to V-Day, it's not worth it anymore. Just enjoy the season and the legacy and the standard these guys are setting for this franchise we love.

And lay off the hot wings GBK, you'll get crabs or something.

Haha, good luck man with that. You're going to get all the same crazy people jumping out of their windows the moment things start getting tough, it's just what they do.

@RonM11: @LAIreland @VeniceMase @ESPNLA710 You two do realize that the Kings are raising their championship banner tonight, right?

@RonM11: @LAIreland @VeniceMase @ESPNLA710 I mean, are you going to waste the entire afternoon on an LA team that CANNOT win in the playoffs?

Welcome, please post often.

Initially, I thought it was a troll job.

And recently, Bettman got a lot of grief when he answered a reporter's question. The reporter asked Bettman if it was "an accident" that San Jose was scheduled for the banner raising game. Bettman said it was not an accident. And a lot of responses were just that...calling Bettman all sorts of vile vulgarities for his troll job.

But think about it for a minute. Isn't Bettman actually giving the Sharks a chance to show what they are made off after the epic collapse last Spring?

But IMO the biggest reason he did this is to showcase this game on the national level in anticipation of the Stadium Series game between these two teams in February.

Definitely a method behind the madness.

Welcome aboard!! Great choice

Yeah I don't think that was a troll job at all. The NHL wants rivalries and is showcasing opening night as "Rivalry Night". The Kings have developed an authentic one with the Sharks. Why not showcase it? That isn't trolling. Were the Kings supposed to not play the Sharks this year? Would it be trolling if opening night were Anaheim, Chicago or New York? If it were the Kings and Islanders or something like that, it would be a missed opportunity.

If you see anyone choking during the banner ceremony...here's a few tips on what to do...

Why do you waste your time Ron?

You should know by now I'm just trolling those a-holes.

Remember when our boy Patrick O'Neal called out these a-holes before Game 1 of the SCF? I'm just keeping the river flowing.

**** with them enough and make them feel uncomfortable. Besides, I like to believe that it made John mention the banner raising night during the radiocast. :)

Just your typical East Coast Bias, Ron.

And it works!

Tune in now, they will be talking Kings after the break.

And, they just happened to mention "there is one team that knows how to win championships in Los Angeles."

LOL

Keep the pressure on the two dufi.

So for those of you not listening, the Kings asked the Clippers to move their game so that they can have October 8 (opening night in the league) to raise the banner.

Doc Rivers agreed, but asked for 20 tickets in return, so that the L.A. Clippers players can attend to see what it's like when a team raises a championship banner in Staples Center.

Pure gold. Doc gets it, and hope his players do as well.

Here's to a new season of declaring ourselves world beaters and the league's ***** simultaneously! 2014 Stanley Cup champs for at least 82 games this time! :)

I'm a Lakers fan but that's super cool. A coach you can really respect.

Gotta build a winning culture. Solid move for Doc.
