I told you before and I sadly agree - I am so down going into this year. I have no faith in the coach. I think our roster is tremendous. The players we have and the cap hits we have are amazing. We could field an all-star roster and it doesn't matter. Our coach can't get this team ready to play. It showed against the Isles. We walked through the Sens because they were horrific. We couldn't even score a ****ing goal against Boston when it mattered. 4 years of blaming players? I don't think so, my friends. I've *****ed since 2010 about his adjustments and they just get worse.
It is sad. Bylsma needs to be gone for me to believe in this team. It's amazing we are wasting years because we want to see if DB will come around. 4 years of the same ****. We already say this over and over again - but what is the definition of insanity? Exactly.
And this is where I blame Shero. He pieces rosters together and gets GREAT cap-friendly contracts. But what is it for? We wasted an insanely deep line up and watched DB **** up the powerplay and put a HOF RW on the opposite side for the first time since he was a rookie. For what?! It's complete insanity.
And the great thing is... even if we do great in the regular season it doesn't matter. This team has reached a level where it's Cup or bust. We've failed miserably in 4 years. I'll give him 1 pass due to injuries out of those 4. So we can't even enjoy the regular season because we all know the demons that wait for us in the playoffs.
I have zero faith. I'm one of the more optimistic people around here and I love hockey. But sometimes honesty sucks.
Coach DB had some interesting things to say on Madden's show today.
I heard this sound when talking about Bennett and Despres.
*beep*...........*beep*...........*beep*............*beep*
That is Disco backing up from previous comments regarding Despres being a top 4 next season and Bennett being a top 6 forward.
Said Bennett will probably be on the 3rd line. Thinks it will be good for him and that he can handle that role. But left open a possibility that Beau could play on the Malkin line. And that BB will play with Sid on 4 on 4 situations.
Was asked if signing Scuds would mean less minutes for Despres. DB said "yes..." and went on about Despres. Calling him a 4th or a 5th dmen. When asked about all the young dmen we have in the organization, he said that we will see them playing a big part on team in 2-3 years. Made it sound it would be a necessity with the cap situation.
Was asked if Fleury's problems are mental? He was very forthcoming. "Oh there is no doubt that his issues were of the mental variety." He went on to expound, but I really can't remember what he went on about there.
Was asked if this team was emotionally unstable. "well in last years series vs. the Flyers, in the 1st two games we blew the lead in both games. We talked about how we needed to get emotionally involved, because we didn't feel we were. And then in game 3, Sid got in a fight, (I forgot the name of the other player) got in a fight, and we got into things too emotionally. And in the Boston series, in game 2, that is where we lost the series. It seemed that whether it was giving up that first goal right away or whatever, we short of broke down. That game we felt really hurt us. Because in games 3 and 4 we really fought back."
Never answered "YES we are emotionally unstable" but his answer basically said, YES, lol. As he simply pointed times we went bonkers. And later in the interview, he said that going forward we would have a more mature Sid and Geno. Not that that comment was linked to the "emotionally unstable" question. But thought it was telling, as I have heard Shero mention the immaturity of Sid and Geno in interviews.
