they have a playoff spot though
i thought they would be worse actually.

Barely. And they had a hot start too where everyone said 'Oh look at Detroit, still manage to find a way to win by rote even without Lidstrom/Holmstrom/etc'.

Just seems like the last few games I have been able to catch of them have been Blah.

I'm actually shocked more people aren't *****ing anew about why didn't we go after Jokinen. Considering the Pens only wound up getting him at a $2.1 million cap hit for next year.

He would have made this team better no doubt. The extra year must have scared Lou away. We could have got him for the 7th rather than Sullivan. Sullivan is just gonna be another R. Niedermayer/McAmmond/Sykora next year that Lou won't even re sign. Even if he's good.

I still think something went on with Sykora that we don't know about. Something ugly like maybe he complained about being sat in the playoffs?

it's worth investigating because he still obviously has talent. it brings to mind his 'feud' with Dan Byslma, except this time i think he probably knows he's better off keeping his mouth shut if there was indeed some friction.

Like I said in the other thread I would almost bet something happened. Even just a minor schism. Lou usually doesn't let players like that walk. Maybe Dean McAmmond or Rob Niedermayer, but Sykora was productive playoffs aside. Sykie also likely didn't demand huge money either. And probably not a long contract.

If Lou wanted to give a younger player a chance he could have let Moose walk, and brought in Kinkaid to backup. Though you could argue that he felt he was not ready to backup in the NHL yet cause even I wanted Moose back.

I don't think you even have to argue it. I am pretty damn sure Kinkaid wasn't ready yet, but because of the lockout he had to give Moose two years instead of one to keep him.

Could of been a combination of things, he might of thought Sykora was out of gas and some sort of locker room tiff sealed the deal.

Yeah I think it was the locker room thing. If not just minor. Maybe even Pete said ''Lou I really have no use for this guy anymore''? If it was a locker room thing I'm not saying it was Langenbrunner bad, but something that he felt we could move on from.

You would never know Miikka Kirprusoff had an 868 save percentage in 17 games this season if you're watching this Sharks/Flames game. No wonder he's supposedly retiring after this season.

He must have family reasons for not wanting to approve a trade out of Calgary too cause he could probably be useful to the Leafs or whomever. I don't think he'd intentionally screw over the Flames the way the Leaf NTC gang (Sundin, Kaberle, etc) did a few years ago

Flyers up 1-0 on the former Thrashers. I have no faith in the Jets to win today cause they're a joke. What a horrible team they look like. I can't believe this garbage team was first in their division. Then again I know another team that was first in their division and conference who's right down there with them now. Maybe we'll battle it out with them for the lower draft pick this year. Nona Weisbaum was right. Losing to them was really when things went downhill, because there's nothing scary about them at all other than a couple fast players like Kane. Their defense is almost as bad as the Lightning.

We could fall behind Philly tonight

Hate to go into Devils Dominion mode but the Flyers actually beat trash pail teams like Winnipeg. We can't even beat the Lightning or Panthers who are even further down at the bottom of a very high cliff.

No matter who won the WPG/PHI game, they were going to tie or pass NJ in the standings. If PHI were to pull off an OT/SO win, I think NJ could fall two spots today.

Classic Philly collapse there but I wouldn't put it past the Jets to blow this in the third. These are 2 pretty garbage teams but there right behind us so that basically tells you how atrocious we've been lately
