The two teams that eliminated teams that we dislike most are now playing each other in the Stanley Cup Finals. They both deserve it. Much appreciated Blackhawks and Bruins.

Watch out ladies of Chicago. Patrick Kane is about to hit up every bar in the city and drink it dry.

I will be watching the Finals this year after all. A playoff series where I do not give a **** who wins but like both teams. So there's no anxiety whatsoever. Hate the fact our Devils aren't there after last years run... but it feels nice to watch a playoff series with no anxiety attached to it.
Give us great hockey, Bears and Hawks. All I ask for. :)

After that beachball that Quick let in during the 1st, I just wouldn't have been able to get over the Kings winning this one. That one will likely be on highlight reels for years to come. If the Hawks win the cup that will definitely be on par with Claude's goal on Hextall in the 95 ECF. I'm surprised he broke down like that in the playoffs of a 48 game season. Had there been 82 then it definitely wouldn't have been so shocking after two deep playoff runs. It happened to Marty in the SCF in 01, and Roy in the WCF in 02.

If he is a big contributor to a cup who gives a flying piss? He'll just be another Joel ward...

You guys lost a hell of a lot more after your last cup run.

True but Hawks are set to lose a lot of vets this time

Bickell , Stalberg , Emery and Rozsival big UFA's that are going to cost to much (Also Mayers and Handzus likely wont be back but both provide lockeroom vet presence)

Good news is that Stan Bowman can do something that Dale Tallon couldn't.. Draft!

Bowman has far better eye for young talent and has rebuild the Hawks farm system from sad state that Tallon left it in

Very happy right now but also coming to realization that Bickell is gone

No way in hell the Hawks can afford to bring him back now

Whats your cap situation look like? If I'm Bowman I do all I can to keep him. If you can afford him than I wouldn't see why he wouldn't come back? Also, I wouldn't even think about bringing Stalberg back after what I've seen from him. Someone is gonna give him an idiotic contract (hope its not the Devils).

Yea as long as the young talent continues to emerge and play well and the right vets are brought in like they were this season, unlike the last 2 years, then the Hawks are gonna be a contender every season because of how good the core players are. Guys like Stalberg, Emery, and Rozsival are easy to replace. Guys like that are a dime a dozen around the league.

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $56,185,128; BONUSES: $557,500
CAP SPACE (17-man roster): $8,672,372

Hawks have 2 key RFA's (Leddy + Kruger) and will likely fill several ? spots with young cheaper talent (Morin , Pirri , Smith , Hayes)

If I had to guess I think Bolland will be salary they move in summer if needed (Especially if they try to retain Bickell)

Bickell has Ville Leino written all over him.

Yea pretty much. Hes the flavor of the month now. He plays a perfect role on the Hawks now. When/If some team gives him an absurd contract and he has to play consistent top 6 minutes, hes gonna get exposed and that contract is gonna end up being the cause of a firing or 2.

Not going to get much sympathy here...we would love to be left with that line-up after a cup run

You guys will be fine.

As someone said earlier...I really miss devils hockey this time of year...even that crappy team this year

After what I witnessed from February to April, I definitely don't miss them. Those games were absolute torture. But yea, its pretty depressing to think about where we were at this time last year to right now. Last year's run was so ********** incredible and filled with so many different emotions that now I just have an empty feeling inside while watching these playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I'm still into it like crazy but it's just different without the Devils involved. I'd trade having a pathetic season (minus the first month we had) for just making the playoffs and getting bounced in the first or second round all day, everyday. Missing the playoffs like we have 2 out of the last 3 seasons really blows. I become a jealous a****** when playoffs are on without us.

yep. as bad as this season was, seeing the herd of leafs fans dancing like mindless idiots around toronto made it worse. oh well, the team was put on the golf course early and shut up "leafsnation" quick enough.

The Bruins and Blackhawks celebrations seemed rushed this year compared to the Devils one last year.

It's like Janssen said in his imfamous radio interview, the Rangers series for the Devils last year was sort of like their Stanley Cup of sorts with the rivalry, history, and intensity surrounding it.
