I hope Zipay is right but it seems like it is pure speculation on his part. I love how he says that they have exploreD options on the free agent market... I didn't know free agency started yet.

Keeping Richards is a gamble, but I think the buyout only will happen if there is something big available that can replace him.

Told the reason the #Rangers haven't made a decision on Brad Richards buyout is because there are differing opinions witthin organization.
Sather wants to keep Richards
?
Dolan might not want to pay yet another guy $20M+ just to walk away.
I know, I know. "He doesnt care"
Carpiniello also thinks Richards will be gone. The 11-12 Richards wasn't worth the $12M they paid him. He didn't take any grief because the team was winning. Even Richards felt his play wasn't up to par that season. He made a comment about needing to be better in 12-13 after having a full season under his belt in NY. What happened? So in Vigneault's set-up with 2 scoring lines,a 2 way line and an energy line. If Stepan and Brassard outperform Richards again, where does Richards play? Is he the two way line guy or the energy guy?
Sure if Brass plays like a 2c it would be pointless to keep BR
I am also not sold on step. Im not so sure he will put up the same numbers after getting his " big " contract
I'm thinking AV might want to see what he could do with him
It's a financial decision, not the coaches territory.
So its probably everyone but Dolan wanting to buy him out.
And Sather would not comment on Brad Richards and the team possibly buying out the final seven seasons of his nine-year, $60 million deal. Sather did say the decision to bench Richards for the final two playoff games was not made by Tortorella alone but was “an organizational decision.â€
Or he plays like a player that knows that he'll be UFA in the end of the season? Who knows....
I understand what you're saying, but it's not likely at all. Richards knows the following:
A. If he is not bought out today, he will be bought out next year. There's really no debating that, whether the team wins a cup with him next year of flops
B. That he will be getting a fat multi-million dollar check when he is bought out, in addition to his regular salary next year. Not to mention all the money Richards has accrued over his career. He doesn't have to worry about "playing for a contract"
Having already won a cup, the only thing Richards will be playing for this season (if we keep him) is pride. I had to watch this guy "play for pride" last year and it wasn't pretty. Cut him loose and use the cap space on someone that sucks less and we're already better off
The fact that it wasn't unanimous is a black mark on this board.I can see why -31- was voted funniest poster.b![]()
Why not?I doubt they were worried about injury at that point.
Kershaw,
Seems like there's not a player on this team save one or two guys that you are a fan of.
don't like the GM either.
Why do you root for the Rangers?
Serious question. I'm interested in hearing the answer.
