2013 New Jersey Devils (Team/Player Discussion)-Offseason FA and trade talk Part XVII

They've both been in the league for 2 years. I don't see how you can say hes THAT much better than Henrique.

Defensively I just think it's black and white, personally. Landeskog is an elite defender at 20. I think it's pretty universally agreed upon and I'm curious to see what the main board says on that.

You cannot say that about Adam Henrique.

all I said was a simple statement that Lou wouldn't move "Henrique +++" for Landeskog

don't see how that was off base but it offended people here apparently.

Hypothetically, if given the chance, would you trade Henrique and Larsson for Landeskog and MacKinnon?

Personally I would do it because Henrique = if not < Landeskog. Larsson is going to be a stud but we have a stacked pipeline of D and adding MacKinnon would be phenomenal. But I don't see Colorado ever doing it although their defense is pretty questionable and Larsson would be an instant upgrade.

That wasn't the comment that set everyone off. It was the implication that Lou wouldn't do it straight up. That's just ridiculous and it implies Henrique is just as good as Lando. Which he's not.

explain to me why Landeskog is better. I am dying to know from the all knowing MartyOwns. see if you can do it without using draft position in your argument.

nevermind. sorry I brought this up.
won't talk about it anymore.

(takes toys home)

I think Henrique will be a consistent 60 point guy in this league. Landeskog will be a 70-80 point guy. Both are good defensive players too.

Arguing just to argue a.k.a Skip Bayless Syndrome.

Is there like an unspoken rule about not having disagreement and discussions in threads? Serious question because I'm still new here and it seems as if more often than not someone chimes in and says "stop talking about hockey!"

Is this thread supposed to just be for line predictions and "it's tuesday!" posts?

It's as if people do not enjoy the debate. I thought it was the point of all this.

As long as you stay on topic then discussing things is what these board are for. When 2 or more people rehash the same argument over and over for pages, it gets very old for the rest to read.

And do we agree that Landeskog vs Henrique is still fresh?

I think we can all agree that we could barely get Liles for Henrique let alone a stud like Gabe. :sarcasm: Have any of you seen his beautiful blond hair?

Some people seem to put Landeskog over Henrique simply on age and pedigree and that really isn't fair in my opinion....

I think what they've both accomplished so far is nearly identical with edge toward Henrique for playoff heroics.

I'm not one to overvalue potential though. Potential to me is nothing more than a meaningless hypothetical.

The point of the boards is discussion, not to argue endlessly just for "fun".

Debate is one thing, picking a fight 'just cause' is quite another and imo some folks need to learn to just let a dumb comment go by without giving it even the validity of a response.

I'm not usually one to take to the whole "embrace debate" mindset because the conversations almost always go in circles and then frustration sets in. That whole 10 page albatross last week when a couple people were talking about Loktionov scoring 60 points this year and complaining about Zajac put me over the edge because its basically just drilling an opinion into someones head for hours until they tapout. This Henrique/Landeskog conversation is starting to enter into that territory. I'm not one to shy away from arguing with someone but when the conversation goes nowehere or is moot then I'm out.

What happens if Henrique doesn't sign? I doubt this happening, but I'm curious
