1 year deal? What's the downside? He'd be a nice depth player especially in the playoffs,

Yeah, I didn't think he would take a one year deal (was assuming his price/term would go up with the amount of interest) but I'd be okay with that. Obviously, it can't be Lou's only move at forward, though.

Im not so hot on Briere, but he does still have speed, and we do need some of that. So the major issue for Briere and his age imo, is the injuries.

Still, I do think I'd rather throw Ted's out there, and if he falls flat, look for a trade midseason.

My stance on Danny remains that if we sign him and also sign a Weiss or make a trade for another top sixer then great, but if he's the only addition we make then we're in trouble

if he signs, he signs. whatever the **** at this point. still need to replace parise though. that gaping hole has not been filled.

French or not, he's gotta know he'll be absolutely hated and criticized in Montreal if he plays like last season.

I believe the final 3 on Daniel Briere are the Devils, Predators and Habs

I just want someone offensively competent. I realize he had a bad year, but clearly Briere has shown he's at least competent.

If it's Briere, it's Briere. If not, well... keep fishing.

Val Fillpulla, Mason Raymond, Stalberg, and Briere are the players I am hoping we focus on. All can be had relatively cheap when compared to the big names and can't get you production anywhere from the 1st to 3rd line, while playing passable defense. At this point let Clarktard walk and get some more offensive depth with the savings.

Can't deny Briere's playoff production, but man, that would be so weird to see him in a Devils jersey.

Why hasn't TG interviewed Schneider yet??

Have you ever uprooted your life in 3 days? He probably hasn't even been to NJ since the trade. Keep in mind, the offseason is these players' vacations.

Watch Lou sign Iginla.

Wouldn't mind that on a 2 year deal.

"Regardless of which team signs him, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger told TSN Radio 690 on Thursday morning that Briere is looking for a one-year deal."

That's good. If he chooses us now, it means he will likely choose us if he pans out. If he doesn't pan out, see ya.

If we sign him, I guarantee he goes back to wing.

That's good. I expect the same thing since we have a top 6 RW hole.

That's good news!

All I'm expecting from him is 25g, 25a, 50p.

I suggest lowering the goals expectations.

His playoff production is seriously no joke.

05/06 Buffalo- 19 pts in 18gms
06/07 Buffalo- 15 pts in 16gms
07/08 Philly- 16pts in 17gms
08/09 Philly- 4pts in 6gms
09/10 Philly- 30pts in 23gms
10/11 Philly- 9pts in 11gms
11/12 Philly- 13pts in 11gms

Now do we move Kovy back to LW and put Briere with him or do we put Briere with Elias and keep searching for a LW to go with Kovy?

danny would be a solid pick up at the right price. i'm sure he wants to prove himself but i also believe his brains are scrambled the past couple years.

since its essentially here, the names I personally wouldn't mind seeing the devils once and for all target are:

UFA's- filppula, briere, ryder, brunner, penner, Raymond, stalberg, antropov, pouliot (the latter five would strictly be bottom 6 roles)....don't really want to overpay by a ton to get someone TBH though. and would prolly prefer a short term deal if it were penner, antropov or ryder

Possible Trade options- cammalleri, hemsky (anyone else know of other potential top 6 guys who may be on the block?)

another thing I have thought about too and others have eluded to, I might be in favor of trying zajac with kovalchuk again which would bump loktionov down to #3C. don't get me wrong I love lokti and his game (as well as he seems to mesh with kovy), but I just don't know about the idea of having him as the top centerman at this point in time.
