Pokka.

Hickey has no business being in the poll.

Write a letter to hockeys future and picket outside their headquarters until they change their definitions of what a prospect is ( which by the way is subjective). Until then your opinion on this is irrelevant and will continue to be ignored. But by all means keep typing it.

How about pokka because his potential is much greater than hickey's? For that matter, the potential of pelech is greater than hickey's. so is pedan's. hickey should not be considered as a better prospect than either of these guys as they could all play top four roles where hickey cannot. And this IS a prospect poll, right?

Then by all means vote for someone else besides Hickey. There is nothing in this poll that REQUIRES you to vote for Hickey. Personally I think Hickey and Ullstrom should not be able to qualify for these sort of lists, but since they do I am going to slot them where I would rank them based on my subjective standard of how much I see them contributing for the Islanders either on the ice or through a trade

And you rate hickey's potential contribution to the isles as greater than the players I mentioned?

Add McAdam. After watching highlights of him, the kid reminds me a bit of Quick in how fast he is. I think he could be a real nice pick and would make the Nino trade even better.

Sounds like you've been hearing this a lot! Well, I certainly appreciate your work. Perhaps the point of view of some here is that hickey did play in 81 per cent of isles games which would have put him over the 65 game limit? I'm not sure because I haven't voted yet and therefore haven't read the threads. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Pokka I have definitely higher than Hickey. Pelech/Pedan/Hickey I have all ranked similarly though I do also place a premium on the fact that Hickey has played in the NHL and did flash solid defensive play though he needs to get stronger on the puck. It cannot be overlooked that Pelech and Pedan are much further away though I do think that Pelech is probably one of the most underrated players in our system because he has played on some lousy teams. For all we know someone like Pelech or Pedan could end up like CdH with a string of fluke injuries and then get caught in a numbers game for an NHL spot while Hickey has played almost a full season (albeit a shortened season) in the NHL

Yup. There's always complaints on eligibility. Last year there was a large number of people complaining that Nino wasn't included in the field.

Last year I used the previous posters prospect criteria (isles4ever11). He used to do all the polls so I kept his rules. This year I changed them slightly to be exactly the same as the site (HF) to simplify things and take peoples various definitions of prospect OUT of the equation entirely.

See how that works out?

I appreciate the kind words but rest assured next year this will be run by someone other than me. I pass the torch to whomever wants to step up and do this.

this shouldn't have made me laugh....I have a pathetic life. Gotta quit this internet.

Pokka

Add Persson (which finally might happen now after I've looked to add him the last 3 or 4 times - talk about underrated!)

using this as a way to determine your vote, you could say that hickey would rank higher than connor mcdavid! simply put, all of pokka, pelech, and pedan have greater POTENTIAL than hickey. we've seen what hickey can do and he tops out as a third pairing guy. the others top out as top fours, so they get my votes.

I voted for Sundstrom b/c at this stage I think he gets points for proving success in the AHL. But I had him, Pelech and Pokka in a virtual dead heat.

I frankly don't get the Pedan love. I like him as a prospect, but I see him as more of a 6/7 kind of player who brings some size and snarl - kind of a Gord Lane for the new Isles. Pelech and Pokka are both potentially 2nd pairing guys at this point, IMO.

Yes, we have seen what he can do. And he impressed.

How can you determine that he tops out as a 3rd pairing D after 40 games where he and his partner lead the team in +/-?

I want to be careful here as I did not say that playing in the NHL is the single most determinative factor as I have yet to vote for Hickey (except to add him to the poll). Pokka I agree has greater upside which is why I would vote for him over Hickey. Pelech and Pedan I see as having comparable upside in the Islanders system to Hickey hence why I would strongly consider ranking Hickey higher based on the fact that he has contributed in the NHL and he and Lubo were our top +/- players
