Bryan Bickell may be a guy looking for a new home ... 10 regular season goals, has 5 in the playoffs. Plays a "CBJ" style of game; physical, in your face, goes to the dirty areas. May not be a bad third/fourth line depth signing, and should come fairly cheap.

I think he's getting close to 3 mil for some team.. like him and it's possible that Hawks can't/won't keep him.

I had at one point asked if the CBJ might have any interest in Viktor Starlberg, the answer I got was he was just too similar to what we already had. Seems to me Bickell runs even more so. At least Stalberg has that speed element, much more along the Folingo model. Just about the last thing we need are additional 3rd 4th line depth players.

How many 6'4" 233lb guys with a pretty decent wrist shot do we have? I think he is different from what we have. Plus he projected as around a 40 pt guy this year. Granted that was with a team that has good offense but I don't see any of our 3rd/4th liners being close to a 40 pointer with the exception of Letestu.

Disagree. With the new cap limits, you're going to see guys like this accepting $1.7-$2m/year deals, because it's all they're going to get. What will be interesting is to see what David Clarkson gets. I have a feeling that his contract, more than anyone else's, is going to decide what the market is like this summer.

Cap is not dropping that much, Joel Ward got 3+ for 4 years with the same cap, Not many teams have lots of space but UFA pool is looking weak even now.

Well, we'll see. I'd be thrilled for Bickell at something like 3x2mil... but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Stephen Weiss is somebody the jackets should consider. You can move Dubinsky back to the wing. With Weiss-Anisimov-Johansen they would be pretty strong down the middle.

Doesn't seem to really be a major upgrade from just going with four of Anisimov-Johansen-Dubinsky-Letestu-MacKenzie, not to mention Boone Jenner may push for a spot. I guess if Anisimov isn't re-signed somehow or we lose a center in a trade, Weiss is an option. Is there any news about his recovery post-surgery?

I actually think Weiss could be a strong upgrade to our center pool, if he's healthy. In the four years before this year he had 57, 49, 60 and 61 points. None of our current centers have ever hit 57 points. We do have a lot of centers, though, I'm not sure where they'll all fit.

Interestingly, it was mentioned last night that Bickel was playing with Toews on Chicago's first line.

Why would we want to move Dubinsky "back" to wing. He was very effective at center.
