I forgot the Combine started this week, wish we could find out who the team is going to interview and etc.

I'll make that easy for you.

Every top 60 ranked prospect.

Wonder if the media will get access to the teams own combine this year held after the NHL one.

Extremely doubtful.

there was a report on Marc-Olivier Roy being tested by the Devils after the main combine already so I wouldn't rule everything out yet.

Lamoriello on possibly trading for No. 1 overall pick, which Avs might move: "From where we are, to move up they’d probably want our house."

still the possibly of moving up 2 spots if they really like someone. I know David Conte really likes Sean Monahan and wouldn't be that surprised at around draft day if we were to go after him if we weren't in the position to.

TG's take on the top fwd's.

"Some of the highest-ranked forwards available beyond the top three mentioned above include Sweden’s Elias Lindholm, Russia’s Valeri Nichuskin, Finland’s Aleksander Barkov, Sean Monahan (Ottawa, OHL), Hunter Shinkaruk (Medicine Hat, WHL), Frederik Gauthier (Rimouski, QMJHL), Valentin Zykov (Baie-Comeau, QMJHL) and Alexander Wennberg (Djurgarden Jr., Sweden)."

No Domi, but includes Gauthier.

Last I knew Lou lived in North Bergen in one of the highrises on top of the hill there.

Not sure I'd call it a 'take' per se. Imagine TG is preoccupied with the big club and isn't well-versed in the prospect side of things. That top forward list looks like he quickly looked at Central's final rankings which came out ~six weeks ago.

Central: MacKinnon, Drouin, Monahan, Shinkaruk, Zykov, then Gauthier amongst NA. For Europeans, they have it Barkov, Nichushkin, Lindholm, then Wennberg.

Really ? I grew up in North Bergen. Went to John F Kennedy and my freshman yr @ NBHS before moving to East Rutherford.

Yup from what I know he did. He may have moved since, but he lived in one of the high rises around there. My buddy did work in there. Not in Lou's place, but in the building.

I grew up in Cliffside Park so I was one town over.

I once dated a girl who had a pad in North Bergen around 73rd and Park I think.
She ordered Sportschannel for me so I can watch Devils games when I came over.

If Lou is looking to add a scoring forward with the #9 pick, his best option is to trade it for an established Top 6.

Lou saying "scoring forward" leads me to think they are looking at Shinkaruk - especially with the Parise comparisons being thrown around out there.

Obviously if a guy like Monahan or Lindholm drop, Lou won't hesitate but if they plan to select Shinkaruk and another team, say Buffalo, takes him, most likely, one of the other big 6 forwards is still available....

I liked what Domi had to show at the memorial cup, he's very talented and I wouldn't mind him either but I think Shinkaruk could be exactly what we need.

Also, I think we also look for scoring forwards with pick 39. I hope we look at Oliver Bjorkstrand, Justin Bailey, possibly Connor Hurley or Jason Dickinson with our 2nd rounder.

We don't have a third but if Shlepyshev is still available at pick #100, I say we take a shot at the guy. Otherwise, if he drops a little, I'd like Mitch Wheaton, a '5" 220+ d man from Kelowna - teammate of Severson's.

Which means "Status Quo" to the max.

But that doesn't mean we can't move a few spots up or try to....

I'm warming up to Shinkaruk the more you guys laud him and want him.

I mean most of you are draft experts(I'm far from it. I just want someone who can score goals) so you have to know what you're talking about......right? RIGHT?

The more I look at this draft the more I'm also intrigued by our 2nd round pick. There's a good chance a good forward slips to 39. Someone like Petan, Erne, Buchnevich, Klimchuk, Hartman, or Gauthier would be good at that spot.

I don't think Gauthier, Erne, or Petan will be there but I agree with your point. Should be 2 good picks for us this year at the least.

Gandler told NHL.com that Nichushkin and his other two Russian clients participating in the NHL Scouting Combine this week, left wing Pavel Buchnevich and center Bogdan Yakimov, will train together over the summer at Power Train Sports Institute in Manheim, Pa., under the guidance of Steve Saunders. The institute specializes in preparing college football players for the NFL Combine.

"Valeri's goal is not to just make the team, but to be one of the top players in the NHL in his first year, and that's why he's staying in North America the entire summer and going through a tremendous fitness routine," Gandler said.

took this from the main board, but if we're drafting him he's pretty much going to be on the starting roster day 1 which might be a deciding factor if he drops to us if we pass up on him or not.

even though we let Larsson/Matteau start the last two seasons, not sure if Lou wants to do it again.
