No, they just realized that they shouldn't put a West Coast team on NBC again.
No, NBC just doesn't acknowledge they exist in the regular season

Why would you lower your standard of living?
Boston January 20th? Hopefully I'm back in NH by then to see that. Also might drive to Ottawa and stay with my friend up there and go to that game.

I will be there! Wearing my chevy era Kings shirt, my shield jersey, and my crown era hat!
Money permitting, I'll be there too. I usually catch one game a year minimum in San Jose but I'll be on a budget so it's gunna be tough.
Some of these little tidbits were mentioned in a previous post, but you all know I like to go next level on stuff like this, or as I often say, I like to go “Dingo†all over that ****!
Impacted schedule much?
- Most 82-Game Non-Olympic NHL regular seasons were played in an average of 185 days. This season, subtracting the 19 days off for Sochi, will be played in 175 days.
It's Easier Early
- Kings have 14 back-to-backs but only 2 sets of B2Bs in the first 18 games (22% of the season).
- In the first 19 games of the season the Kings will have completed only 1 one set of 3 games in 4 days. They have 9 more scheduled the rest of the season.
- The Kings won't complete their first 4 games in 6 days stretch until the 20th game of the season. They have 8 such sets scheduled total.
- The Kings play the first 18 games of the season in a very casually paced 40 days.
- In the first 18 games the Kings play a stretch of 9 straight (10/19 - 11/9) where they stay in the Pacific time zone (8 at Staples split up by 1 in Phoenix). They have another such stretch later leading up to the Olympic Break.
- The most days between games the Kings will have is 4. This happens twice (11/3-11/6 & 12/24-12/27[XMas break])
- Of The first 18 games of the season the Kings only play 6 games out of the Pacific Time Zone
- Kings will have one of their two 4-day breaks between 14th & 15th games of the season, during a homestand.
The Rest is Tougher Sledding
- Starting on 11/12 the Kings play a stretch of 9 games in 16 days which includes one back-to-back at the tale end of a 3 games in 4 days which is in the middle of a 4 games in 6 days. Of those 9 games, only 3 are at Staples.
- Another tough stretch is 12/10 to 12/23 where the team plays 8 games in 14 days including 2 back-to-backs (on the road) one set of 3 games in 4 days and a set of 4 games in 6 days (The last 4 of these 8 games are at Staples)
- Another tough stretch of games is an 11 games in 19 days beginning 1/16/14 - 2/3/14 where the Kings play 7 road games. This set of games starts with a tough road trip to STL, DET, BOS & CBJ before coming back to play the Ducks at the Pond. However that Ducks game is the first of another 9 straight in the Pacific Time Zone so travel for this stretch gets easier 8 days into the 19 days. This stretch includes 2 back-to-backs, two 3 games in 4 days and two 4 games in 6 days.
- The last rough patch of the season is 3/20 to 4/5 where the Kings play 10 games in 17 days. Six of the 10 are on the road including a tough late season east coast trip to PHI, WAS and PIT. Again, this stretch includes 2 back-to-backs, two 3 games in 4 days and two 4 games in 6 days.

- Kings are on National TV in the US 12 times either on NBCSN (9 times) or NHLN (3 Times)

- Kings are on HNIC 6 times including the Dodger Stadium game. They're also on the CBC @ WIN on Thursday, March 6th
- Bob & Jim will have 9 games off this year because of NBCSN telecasts. This includes a 3 week break at the Olympics where the first game back is an NBCSN game at COL. Three of their 9 "Nights off" are home games (including Dodger Stadium).
- The Kings play 8 games this season where the puck will drop at or before 1PM Pacific Time.

Random Stuff
- Of Their 14 Back-to-Back sets, only 3 of them involve a home game and only 1 home game at that. They do not play on consecutive days at home this season.

- On November 12th, The Kings will play the Buffalo Sabres in the U.S. for the first time in 1089 days.
- On March 29th The Winnipeg Jets will play their first game ever at Staples Center. It will have been 6,660 days since a team called the Winnipeg Jets played a hockey game in Los Angeles. Kings lost that game 5-4, here's the scoresheet
