For the love of all things holy can we please stop using the term "RyJo" it's not his nickname, that's Joey. This is as bad as calling him Yohansson, IMO.

pretty please? ;)

For all of the additions, this team is still a mixture of tweeners, be they 1/2 guys, 2/3 guys and 3/4 guys with a mixture of wider range folks like Letestu and Foligno. Seems to me that trying to fit them into lines is akin to beating one's head against the wall. Not unlike trying to get people to stop using the wrong name for someone... :sarcasm:

One question though, are you worried I might have hurt his feelings when he reads the board? Or are you secretly #19?:sarcasm:

We should retire "Camsanity" also.. it wasn't cool when cbj marketing tried to rip off "Linsanity" and it isn't cool now. doesn't even rhyme with insanity

"Joey" seems to be his preferred nickname and the one his teammates use; but nicknames aren't chosen, they're assigned or evolve, and people often assign their own to favorite (or most hated) players. I don't suppose Ted Williams ever referred to himself as "Splendid Splinter," but every baseball fan knows who that is! I'm willing to refer to the kid as he prefers, but I think you're getting a bit upset over nothing. Anyone old enough will remember people who refused to use "Ali" or "Kareem," even after those became their legal names. I don't see anyone jumping to use "Keklu" for GMJK (besides me!), even though we've been informed that its the preferred nickname in Finland. Bottom line: so what?

If Murray doesn't make the team his salary doesn't count against the cap does it?

What if Joey shows a 'tude in camp and gets sent down?

I'm thinking ELC's don't count but in Joey's case since he played so many games I wonder if its different?

Not going to call him either. He's not a baby kangaroo. Having said that, we don't have to call player by their "official" Nickname. What do they call Boll? Boller I think. Some of those nicknames they use blow.

Two way contracts can be sent down without impact to the Cap figure. I believe the "loophole" the NHL closed was sending down one way contracts to bury them in the minors so they don't count against the cap. The new CBA should stipulate that a player on a one way contract that is sent down, still counts against the teams Cap figure.

Murray, Johansen and other players on 2 way deals can be sent downwithout impact to the cap. The only risk of sending players down on 2 way deals is if they are eligible for waivers (Murray and Johansen would not be as they are on EL deals).

The only thing I'm not on board with is seeing Calvert on the "1st" line. Love the player but he's a 3rd line "plus" talent. Some won't agree with me and that's OK. I think we have the look of a very good team once Horton is healthy.

My guess is the Cam will play 2nd line RW until Horton is healthy then depending on combos and performance he may switch to the LW or possibly even slot down to 3rd line RW which could give us amazing scoring punch on the RW. It does appear the "hole" is on the LW side, however, it doesn't necessarily need to be filled with a big time player, just someone who can play a role. I typically think of how Lucic filled in with Boston. Not sure he's a classice top line guy but had enough skill and other assets to make his line balanced and dangerous (when playing well - not a great year last year)

With Horton out I wouldn't mind something like:

Umberger - Anisimov - Gaborik
Foligno - Johanson - Atkinson
Calvert - Dubinsky - Letestu
Comeau - MacKenzie - Boll
Bass/Skille

After the return of Horton maybe something like:

Atkinson - Anisimov - Gaborik
Foligno - Johanson - Horton
Calvert - Dubinsky - Umberger
Comeau - Letestu - Boll
MacKenzie/Bass or Skille

Any way I look at this it seems like we still have a lot of interchangeable parts for lines. That's a really good thing in my book. I also think the depth that is being built will allow for upward movement from the minors every year going forward. As players like MacKenzie and Comeau drop, Jenner and Chaput might get promoted, Umberger for Rychel and so on....

Let's hope the growth continues and that the underperforming assets come back up to the level they are expected to play at. that would make for a very, very good team. Top to bottom.

It's up to 900k.

So if player X has cap hit of 900k, even if it's one-way deal, he can't sent down through waivers but no cap hit stays.

If player Y has cap hit of 3 mil, all the cao hit above 900 k stays, so 2.1 mil in this case.

I think you mean that them going down frees up cap space. ?

I kinda feel bad for Collins in all of this. He could be a really good bottom 6 option but he's probably going to be looked over and ever more so with the apparent Skille signing.

my only issue is that I don't see Bass up here...so if that's my only quibble than i think you did pretty good with it

Let players move up and down depending on who isn't producing/injured.

Tyutin - Johnson
Murray - Wisniewsky
Prout - Nikitin
Erixon

Bobrovsky
McElhinney

Wow, I thought I was the only one who still thinks Murray will play on the big squad this year.

He's that good. I understand he didn't play a full season last year (he did play 23 games this season and had 17 points in them showing he's definitely ready for the next level) and has been training and practicing FOR the NHL since his injury. I really don't buy the "but he missed a season so he's not in game shape" bs. I'd actually argue he's in better shape than most NHLers right now because he hasn't stopped training and practicing and strengthening ever since his injury. I guess we'll see here in a few days how he looks against some of other defensemen.

Atkinson - Anisimov - Gaborik
Foligno - Dubinsky - Horton
Calvert - Johansen - Skille
Comeau - Letestu - Dmac

Solid top thru bottom.

JJ - Prout
Tyutin - Murray / Nikitin / Erixon
Wiz - Nikitin / Erixon / Murray

Not necessarily traditional numbering of lines just who they'll be paired with. Really I think anyone of those pairings or lines could play with any other and be fine.

Like almost everything about this. Only thing I could see changed is moving up Comeau or Letestu for Skille. I guess injuries WILL happen so things will change a bit and i'm not sure if you left him out purposely or not but if he's here i'd like to see Umberger on the 4th line. Umberger-Mac/Letestu-Skille with Comeau and Letestu rotating up on the 3rd.

We have 13 forwards on one way contracts. I don't see a guy on a 2 way making the team and sitting in the press box while eating cap space.

Skille will be in Springfield barring injuries or a trade. IMO.

If Collins can't beat out Jack "no-skill" Skille for a spot, then he doesn't belong in the NHL.
